As a longtime fan of Marvel and X-Men, I couldn’t be more thrilled to see Marvel Studios‘ recent projects receive recognition at this year’s Emmy Awards! The nominations for shows like “Loki,” “X-Men ’97,” and “Echo” are a testament to the incredible storytelling and production values that have come to define the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
I’m thrilled to share that earlier today, the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences revealed the nominees for the 76th Primetime Emmy Awards! Our beloved Marvel Studios productions were among those recognized, with “Loki,” “X-Men ’97,” and “Echo” all earning nominations. “Loki” was nominated in the categories of Outstanding Fantasy/Sci-Fi Costumes, Outstanding Sound Mixing, and Outstanding Special Visual Effects. “X-Men ’97” received a nod for Outstanding Animated Program, while “Echo” is up for Outstanding Sci-Fi Costumes. Marvel Studios took to Instagram today to express their excitement over these well-deserved nominations!

How Far Along Is X-Men ’97 Season 2?
More recently, it was announced that Marvel’s X-Men ’97 will have a new development with Matthew Chauncey, who writes for “Marvel’s What If…?”, taking on the role of writer. (Deadline reported this news in an article.)
Chauncey is said to take over as the primary writer for “Marvel’s X-Men ’97,” with him writing scripts for the upcoming third season. Previously, Beau DeMayo penned down Seasons 1 and 2 before leaving Marvel Studios. Reports indicate that the Season 2 scripts have undergone revisions, while Chauncey’s work on Season 3 is now being actively developed. He will collaborate with “X-Men ’97” director Jake Castorena and consulting producers Larry Houston and the Lewald siblings (who rejoined Marvel after working on “X-Men: The Animated Series” in the 1990s).
In an earlier conversation with the ComicBook Phase Zero podcast this year, Castorena shared insights on the production of X-Men ’97 Season 2.
As a seasoned baker with years of experience under my apron, I can confidently say that ruining a cake is the last thing anyone wants. The sweet aroma of fresh batter and the anticipation of creating something beautiful can be ruined in an instant by carelessness or distractions. I’ve been there myself, and let me tell you, it’s a feeling of disappointment that stays with you for a long time. But fear not, for we press on, undeterred. The cake is well on its way, being carefully crafted and fabricated before our very eyes. It’s a labor of love, and there’s no rest for the baking enthusiast, as they say. So let’s focus, keep our hands steady, and roll right into Season 2 while we’re still in the midst of Season 1!
In a recent conversation with Brad Winderbaum, Marvel’s chief of streaming for ComicBook, it was disclosed that the production of Season 2 had advanced to the animatic phase.
Winderbaum shared, “We’re still in the animatic stage. Creating animation is a time-consuming process, as I’m sure you’re aware. In Invincible Season 2, there was an exceptional scene that truly stood out to me. The team executed it brilliantly, and it left a lasting impression. However, due to the studio’s need to assess the success of the first season before greenlighting the second one, there’s often a delay. Fortunately, we received the go-ahead before our airdate, which might lessen the wait. So please be patient with us as we work through this process.”
