If you’re intending to go to San Diego Comic-Con 2025 mainly to catch a glimpse of Marvel Studios‘ upcoming projects, you might want to reconsider your plans. Unfortunately, Marvel Studios will not be holding a panel in Hall H at this year’s convention due to the fact that “Avengers: Doomsday” is currently being filmed and Disney has postponed the release dates for both “Doomsday” and “Avengers: Secret Wars.” However, don’t worry as Marvel won’t be entirely absent from Comic-Con. They have plans to showcase “The Fantastic Four: First Steps” and other projects at the event instead.
Since the release of ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ has been scheduled for December 2026, Marvel now has another San Diego Comic-Con (SDCC) before the movie hits theaters. The cast for ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ is currently in production, and it wasn’t considered suitable for a Hall H panel at this time. However, Marvel will still have a significant presence at this year’s SDCC, with numerous panels discussing comics, games, and other topics. Additionally, sources tell ‘Heat Vision’ that Marvel will have a substantial footprint in the San Diego Convention Center, featuring a redesigned booth that offers an immersive experience, aligning with the upcoming release of ‘Fantastic Four’.
Every year since the Phase 1 era, Marvel Studios’ presentations in Hall H at Comic-Con have stood out as a significant highlight of the convention, with an abundance of projects underway allowing them to generate anticipation for the future of the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). In 2022, Kevin Feige unveiled the lineups for Phases 5 and 6, while in the previous year, Robert Downey Jr. was surprisingly introduced as the MCU’s Doctor Doom on stage.
Given Marvel’s plan to reduce production volume, they won’t have as many new projects to exhibit at this particular event. The movies “Avengers: Doomsday” and “Avengers: Secret Wars,” initially scheduled for release in December 2025 and December 2026 respectively, have been postponed to December 2026 and December 2027. This delay provides the Russo brothers with additional time to finalize their ambitious productions. The movie “The Fantastic Four: First Steps” is set to hit theaters on July 25th, coinciding with the second day of the convention.
It’s unfortunate for Marvel enthusiasts anticipating a sneak peek of Doomsday or future MCU projects such as Daredevil: Born Again Season 2 at Comic-Con, but it makes sense from the studio’s perspective. Given that Marvel is heavily invested in ensuring the successful completion of Doomsday, it seems they won’t be unveiling any upcoming movies just yet, especially since Doomsday is still over a year away. Instead, the studio has decided to prioritize filming and may return to Comic-Con next year with a grand panel centered around Doomsday, potentially premiering a new trailer there.
Marvel has two upcoming Avengers movies coming up, but they’re not yet ready to disclose their plans following the “Secret Wars” storyline. The studio is encouraging fans to concentrate on the final stages of the Multiverse Saga, rather than being distracted by hints about the X-Men or other projects. Marvel doesn’t necessarily require a Comic-Con panel to reveal the rest of the cast for “Doomsday”; they broke records with a live stream on an unexpected March day to announce the initial actors in the film, and they could do something similar again in the future. All things considered, it was more logical not to attend Hall H this year.
