The next chapter of Marvel Studios‘ Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) is about to begin with the arrival of The Fantastic Four: First Steps, and it’s been confirmed that nine primary antagonists are set to make an appearance in this new phase. Previously, Phase 5 of the MCU consisted of six films and eight Disney+ series, during which several well-known villains were showcased.
Initially, during the start of Phase 5, it was planned for Jonathan Majors’ character Kang the Conqueror to emerge as the main antagonist for the franchise. However, following his arrest in real life, Majors was let go by Marvel Studios and Disney, leading to a shift in direction for the storyline. Had Majors remained, the roster of villains for Phase 6 might have been slightly altered. Despite some modifications, there are still nine confirmed villains for Phase 6 that we know of.
All 9 MCU Villains Confirmed for Phase 6
Mole Man
In the upcoming movie titled “The Fantastic Four: First Steps“, Mole Man is set to join the Marvel Cinematic Universe for the first time. Although Galactus and Silver Surfer are the primary villains in this film, Mole Man will undoubtedly leave his mark as well.
It’s still unknown who will play the role of Mole Man in The Fantastic Four, though there are strong assumptions that it could be Paul Walter Hauser.
As a movie critic, I’ve been keeping my eyes peeled for any Marvel Studios updates, but it seems they’re tight-lipped about the Mole Man’s role within the upcoming film. However, during CCXP Mexico, Johnny Storm actor Joseph Quinn dropped a hint that Mole Man is “simply marvelous in” the movie. So, fingers crossed we’ll get to see him shine on the big screen!
The cast is truly impressive, packed with remarkable characters. Among them is Mole Man, who adds charm to his role. However, the main antagonist is none other than Galactus.
It makes perfect sense that Mole Man is part of the Fantastic Four team, considering he appeared in the initial issue of the Fantastic Four comics from 1961.
Doctor Doom
Following Jonathan Majors’ dismissal, Marvel Studios opted for a drastic change in course. Rather than replacing Kang the Conqueror, they chose to make Doctor Doom the central antagonist of the Multiverse Saga instead. To further surprise fans, it was announced that Robert Downey Jr. would be the one embodying Doctor Doom on screen.
It’s still uncertain if Doom will make his debut in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. While some fans speculate that he might be introduced in “The Fantastic Four: First Steps” given his iconic status as a Fantastic Four adversary, others think it may take until “Avengers: Doomsday” for him to appear.
Regardless of the circumstances, fans can anticipate Robert Downey Jr.’s return to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, this time as the main antagonist for Phase 6. It’s confirmed that Doom will appear in both “Avengers: Doomsday” and “Avengers: Secret Wars”. However, there’s a chance he might make an appearance in additional projects too.
Kingpin
Following his introduction in Netflix’s “Daredevil” series, Vincent D’Onofrio’s character Wilson Fisk (also known as Kingpin) reappeared in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The Kingpin made his initial appearance in the franchise with the release of Disney+’s “Hawkeye” series. Since then, this significant character has also been featured prominently in “Echo” and another Disney+”Daredevil” production.
Moving onwards, Kingpin is predicted to remain a formidable presence in Phase 6. Without a doubt, he will reappear for the second season of Daredevil: Born Again, and there’s a strong possibility that he might show up in the upcoming Punisher Special Presentation as well.
Sadly, it seems that Kingpin won’t make an appearance in Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) feature films because of rights complications. Therefore, fans won’t get to see him in movies like Doomsday or Secret Wars.
Vanessa Fisk
As a dedicated cinephile, one pivotal scene that truly left an impact in “Daredevil: Born Again” was during Episode 8, where I learned that Vanessa Fisk had masterminded Foggy Nelson’s demise.
In the series “Daredevil: Born Again,” it was shown that Vanessa is equally formidable as her husband, and could potentially outshine him if she hasn’t done so already. With the release of Season 2 in Phase 6 of the MCU, Vanessa is expected to maintain her role as a significant antagonist.
Magneto
On March 26, 2025, there was an exciting development for long-term Marvel enthusiasts. That’s when Marvel Studios revealed that Sir Ian McKellen would once again embody the character of Magneto in the movie Avengers: Doomsday.
In the epic saga of “Doomsday”, my part as Magneto hasn’t been unveiled yet, but let me tell you, during the 20th Century Fox era, I was quite a force to be reckoned with among the villains. I graced numerous films with my presence.
It’s not officially confirmed, but it’s widely anticipated that Sir Ian McKellen might reprise his role as Magneto in “Avengers: Secret Wars.” Following this potential appearance, it seems likely that he will bid farewell to the character after Marvel Studios releases their new take on the X-Men series.
Mystique
On the very same day I learned Sir Ian McKellen would once again embody Magneto, Marvel Studios unveiled their plan for Rebecca Romijn to step back into her Mystique persona for Avengers: Doomsday.
In the X-Men movies produced by Fox, Romijn initially played the legendary shape-shifter character before Jennifer Lawrence assumed the role. However, it has been announced that Romijn will make a comeback in at least one movie during Phase 6 of the series.
Like McKellen, many expect Romijn to also appear in Avengers: Secret Wars.
Galactus
In the upcoming phase 6 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Ralph Ineson’s Galactus is set to make his debut as the primary antagonist. This role will be in the movie titled “The Fantastic Four: First Steps“, which serves as the starting point for phase 6.
For a while, Marvel Studios kept the design of Galactus hidden, but eventually, the audience got a comprehensive glimpse of the World-Devourer in multiple forms.
It remains undecided whether Galactus will appear in future Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) productions, or if his appearances will be limited to the upcoming Fantastic Four series.
Grim Reaper
Demetrius Grosse is set to play the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s character, Eric Williams, who is more famously known as the Grim Reaper. In the original stories, the Grim Reaper shares a sibling relationship with Simon Williams, who is recognized as Wonder Man.
The character known as the Grim Reaper is set to make an appearance in the upcoming “Wonder Man” series on Disney+, with a planned release date in December 2025.
Bullseye
In the series “Daredevil: Born Again,” Wilson Bethel portrayed Bullseye. Significantly, it was him who fired the fatal shot that claimed Foggy Nelson’s life, earning him intense dislike from fans.
It’s anticipated that Bullseye will reappear within the Marvel Cinematic Universe during Phase 6, specifically with the debut of Daredevil’s second season, titled “Born Again.
BONUS: Ultron
It’s been said that Ultron might reappear during Phase 6 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, but so far, there’s no official confirmation from Marvel Studios. Based on reports, actor James Spader is set to return as Ultron in an upcoming Disney+ series, having initially made his debut in the 2015 film “Age of Ultron”.
If Ultron does return, he will likely only be a part of that one project.
BONUS: Jocasta
It’s also speculated that Jocasta may join the cast of “Vision Quest”. In the original stories, she was designed by Ultron to serve as his bride. Her complex backstory and potential for character development make her an intriguing choice for the upcoming series.
Based on certain sources, it appears that T’Nia Miller is set to play the role of Jocasta in “Vision Quest.” Yet, similar to Ultron’s status, Marvel Studios has yet to make an official statement regarding Jocasta’s participation or confirm her appearance in the MCU during Phase 6.
BONUS: Paladin
In the upcoming series on Disney+ titled “Vision Quest“, it’s been reported that Paladin, another Marvel character, is set to make his first appearance. According to sources within the production, Todd Stashwick from “Star Trek: Picard” will portray this villainous role, making him one of the antagonists in the upcoming show.
According to the original text, Paladin’s relationship with Daredevil seems strongest among all characters, implying a possibility for his appearance in future Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) productions. This might lead to a confrontation between Paladin and Matt Murdock.
