Marvel Teases the New Deadpool After Wade Wilson's Death

As a seasoned gamer with over two decades of comic book adventures under my belt, I must say, the news about Deadpool‘s demise and his daughter Ellie taking over as the new Deadpool has left me both intrigued and nostalgic.

The character known as Regenerating Degenerate (Deadpool) will no longer regenerate in Marvel’s upcoming comics. September’s issue #6 of Deadpool promises that the invincible Wade Wilson will meet his demise at the hands of a new villain, Death Grip. This tragic event is set to occur, with Wade’s 14-year-old daughter Ellie taking up the mantle as the new Deadpool in issue #7, scheduled for release in October. The current Deadpool comic series by writer Cody Ziglar has hinted that Death Grip used the mystical power of the Muramasa Blade to disable Wade’s superhuman healing factor, a sword known to have the ability to kill immortal characters like Wolverine and Sabretooth. Essentially, Deadpool will be no more.

Wade is incredibly resilient and maintains a carefree demeanor regarding various matters, as stated by Ziglar when discussing his initial Deadpool storyline featuring the character Death Grip and his cult of death. In this narrative, Death Grip showcases an unusual perspective on such topics. As Ziglar further explains, he’s a man who delves into mystic studies similar to Doctor Strange but was unsuccessful in his academy pursuits. Instead, he possesses a blend of mystical powers akin to those held by Shang-Chi or some of Iron Fist’s abilities.

A character with a hint of mystical talents and exceptional martial art skills has created a faith reminiscent of a cult, centered around the idea of pursuing death and discovering a vessel for it. What intrigues him most is an individual believed to be invincible. Ziglar elaborates, “The narrative largely revolves around Death Grip’s quest to find this seemingly immortal person, seeking wisdom from someone who appears indestructible. If your life’s mission is mastering deadly martial arts, what could be more rewarding than training on someone who seems impervious to harm?”

Elliepool, who has been trained by Taskmaster, will appear for the very first time in Deadpool #7. In this issue, Ziglar will be accompanied by guest artist Andrea Di Vito (from The Invincible Iron Man) and co-writer Alexis Quasarano as they both make their Marvel Comics debut. Marvel has revealed the covers and brief summaries for the final part of Ziglar’s initial storyline and the start of a brand new Deadpool arc that begins with Wade’s death in issue #6.

Death Grip, the relentless mystical martial artist, has Deadpool in a tight grip, not one of those enjoyable kinds. He’s on a ruthless quest to test the boundaries of Deadpool’s regenerative powers. When will the Merc’s chatterbox finally heal over? And will his daughters intervene to rescue him, given their bond as father and daughter?

In this fresh storyline, Deadpool overcame Death Grip! However, considering the situation, eliminating Deadpool right now would be utterly preposterous – which is precisely what we plan to do.

As a gamer, I’d say: “Deadpool’s down for now, but the spirit of Deadpool lives on through his daughter Ellie! Poor ol’ Wade Wilson took a dive, but don’t you worry, he’s got a successor ready to step up! Taskmaster’s still honing her mercenary skills, but she’s got something more than just cash on her mind – revenge! And to get that, she’s gonna need Princess by her side.”
