As a die-hard fan of Genndy Tartakovsky‘s work, I can confidently say that his contributions to animation are nothing short of legendary. From “Samurai Jack” to “Primal,” he consistently pushes the boundaries of what can be achieved in this medium.
Genndy Tartakovsky, famed in the animation realm, deserves this acclaim with creations like Samurai Jack, Dexter’s Laboratory, Unicon: Warriors Eternal, and Primal under his belt. He continues to innovate within the industry, but not every concept he dreams up becomes a reality. The fate of the mature animated movie Fixed is uncertain, and it seems that Genndy had an ambitious plan for Marvel’s Cinematic Universe in the past. In recent interviews, the animator expressed his intention to apply his Clone Wars visual style to Marvel projects.
If you’re not familiar with Genndy Tartakovsky’s take on Star Wars: Clone Wars, it consists of two television series that aired in 2003. It should be noted that this isn’t the same as Star Wars: The Clone Wars, which came out in 2008. In these two seasons, we delved into the struggles of Anakin Skywalker, Obi-Wan Kenobi, and other prominent Jedi, as they were embroiled in the war mentioned in its title. These events took place between the prequel films, Attack of the Clones and Revenge of the Sith, and many fans hold it in high regard. You can now stream this series on Disney+.
The Marvel Project That Never Was
In an interview with Collider, Tartakovsky shared that years earlier, during the economic recession around 2008 and 2009, he had approached Marvel’s Kevin Feige with a proposal for an animated superhero series featuring renowned characters. With his own studio struggling, he proposed using Marvel characters similarly to how he revitalized Star Wars: Clone Wars. He met with Feige, who mentioned that Jon Favreau was a fan of Tartakovsky’s work and suggested that Favreau might call him. To which, Tartakovsky agreed.
Although the project didn’t end up getting made, the pitch impressively landed Genndy a position on Iron Man 2. As it turned out, Jon reached out to him, expressing his admiration for Genndy’s work in the animated superhero genre. In Iron Man 1, Jon had noted Genndy’s approach to action sequences and attempted to replicate it. When Jon asked if Genndy could assist with the climactic action scene in Iron Man 2, he eagerly agreed, diving right into the project and continuing his unique style of work, making for an engaging experience.
Tartakovsky’s Future
Hey there fellow gamers! I’ve been following some exciting news in the animation world, and I wanted to share what I’ve learned with you all. While it seems that Genndy Tartakovsky’s series Fixed, produced by Warner Bros., might never see the light of day, don’t let that discourage you! The talented creator himself has confirmed that he and his studio are hard at work on the third season of their prehistoric series, Primal.
