Marvel Unveils Stunning New Look at The Hood: The Ultimate Villain?

As a die-hard Marvel fan, I’m absolutely thrilled about the latest sneak peek of Marvel Studios‘ upcoming antagonist in the MCU: The Hood. Renowned for his enchanted cloak and underworld ties, this menacing figure is all set to grace our screens for the first time in live-action within Ironheart.

A sneak peek for the upcoming movie “Ironheart” showcases executive producer Ryan Coogler and introduces us to The Hood character played by Anthony Ramos. Marvel Studios shared this clip on May 14th as a preview of the trailer’s full release, marking a significant milestone in the MCU timeline. In this footage, we get our closest glimpse yet at Parker Robbins, who is portrayed by Ramos, and his new villain outfit that will surely excite fans.

Spectators can listen as Ramos’ adversary speaks to Riri, saying, “Riri, I perceive you. Biding your time for recognition of your greatness.” Although this statement doesn’t provide much insight into the series’ central conflict or why The Hood and Ironheart clash, it does hint at a possible past connection between the two characters for fans to look forward to.

In a previous Disney+ promotional glimpse, titled “Look Ahead,” we caught glimpses of the upcoming series “Ironheart.” This sneak peek also showcased Ramos in a bare-chested scene, where he was seen engaged in prayer.

One snapshot from the trailer revealed Ramos wearing the cloak, but without the signature hood concealing his face. In this new take on The Hood, he’ll be a recurring figure throughout the series. A similar sneak peek of The Hood, featuring co-star Manny Montana, has also been unveiled recently.

Originally, Ironheart wasn’t intended for a 2025 release. Instead, it has faced one of the longest and most delayed production processes among Marvel Studios series. Initially slated for a late 2023 premiere, the show encountered numerous hurdles such as internal content adjustments at Disney, Hollywood labor disputes, and an extended post-production phase that ultimately delayed its airing by almost two years following filming completion.

The project, titled “Ironheart,” was initially unveiled in December 2020. Dominique Thorne has been chosen to portray Riri Williams, the teenage tech prodigy who made her MCU appearance in “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever.” In a recent promotional video, head writer Chinaka Hodge confirmed that “Ironheart” unfolds in the days after “Wakanda Forever,” directly linked to the movie that was released approximately two and a half years prior to this series’ debut. The premiere of “Ironheart” is scheduled for June 24, 2025, over three episodes on Disney+.

The Hood: From Comics to Disney+

In the Marvel Universe, Parker Robbins, a common criminal, accidentally acquires a magical cloak and boots during an unsuccessful heist, which gives him extraordinary powers such as floating and becoming invisible. This character was first presented in The Hood #1 (2002). As the story unfolds, his transformation into a formidable villain is fueled by his aspiration to support his family, a motivating factor that fans may recognize when they watch the 2025 Ironheart series.

The presence of the Hood creates an intriguing scenario where we witness a rare confrontation between “technology vs. magic.” In this upcoming series, the antagonist delves into the mystical aspects of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. As the story unfolds as the next step in Riri’s adventure, constructing her own super suits, the conflict with The Hood promises to be an enthralling spectacle.

It wasn’t until the Avengers movies that Tony Stark, who is comparable to Iron Man in terms of abilities, encountered magical beings for the first time. This introduced a distinctive element when we see Riri on Disney+. There are rumors that Sacha Baron Cohen may play Mephisto, which could intensify the storyline and influence The Hood’s backstory.
