As a seasoned gamer with memories of late-night battles and epic showdowns etched deep within my gaming history, I must say that the announcement during today’s Nintendo Direct Partner Showcase has filled me with an uncontainable excitement! September 12th, just around the corner, will see the digital release of Marvel vs. Capcom Fighting Collection: Arcade Classics, a compilation that brings together seven arcade classics from my cherished past.
During the recent Nintendo Direct Partner Showcase, a launch date has been unveiled for “Marvel vs. Capcom Fighting Collection: Arcade Classics”. Excitingly, the game will be available soon, specifically on September 12th, though this applies only to its digital version. For those anticipating a physical copy, they’ll have to hold out until November 22nd. This latter date was previously leaked, but here’s some good news – fans can start playing it slightly earlier if they opt for the digital release instead!
If you’re not familiar with “Marvel vs. Capcom Fighting Collection: Arcade Classics,” let me fill you in. This collection was initially announced way back in June and it’s available on Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, and PC. Inside this collection, you’ll find seven classic arcade games, but here’s a twist – six of these are fighting games, while the seventh one is actually an arcade brawler instead! You can watch the new trailer with the release dates in it below.
There’s been plenty of buzz around the upcoming release of Marvel vs. Capcom Fighting Collection. Apart from Arcade1Up machines, finding these games has been quite challenging. Given Capcom’s Marvel titles have always garnered high praise, this collection not only allows fans to re-experience them but also offers a chance for newcomers to understand the excitement it generates!
Capcom Fighting Collection 2
Alongside the unveiling of a new release date, today’s Nintendo Direct presentation also highlighted an upcoming assortment of timeless Capcom fighting games. The newly announced collection, titled Capcom Fighting Collection 2, gathers eight iconic games from the company’s past. Slated for release in 2025, this compilation will feature fan favorites such as Capcom vs. SNK Millennium Fight 2000 Pro, Capcom vs. SNK 2 Mark of the Millennium 2001, Power Stone, Power Stone 2, Project Justice, Street Fighter Alpha 3 Upper, Capcom Fighting Evolution, and Plasma Sword: Nightmare of Bilstein. Similar to the Marvel vs. Capcom Fighting Collection, Capcom Fighting Collection 2 is planned for release on Nintendo Switch, PS4, and PC via Steam.
Among all these games, I can’t help but feel an immense excitement as a fan about the comeback of the legendary Power Stone and its sequel. It’s been almost two decades since we last saw these games, yet they managed to cultivate a dedicated following on the Sega Dreamcast. The original Power Stone games have become quite pricey on the secondary market, so this is a fantastic chance for us to get our hands on them at a more affordable price!
