Marvel’s Black Panther Just Got a Surprising New Power

As a seasoned gamer with a penchant for comic book lore and a soft spot for Black Panther, I must say that the latest development in Ultimate Black Panther has left me absolutely thrilled! The revelation of T’Challa gaining some form of Force-like connection to Vibranium is intriguing, to say the least. It opens up a whole new realm of possibilities for the character and the universe he inhabits.

In the comic series “Ultimate Black Panther”, Black Panther possesses a unique power linked to the uncommon metal, Vibranium. A conflict has erupted within Wakanda’s borders, as Moon Knight (a character influenced by Egyptian gods Ra and Khonshu) has amassed a loyal following willing to sacrifice themselves for him. Black Panther gathers his own forces in response, with former adversaries like Killmonger and Storm joining him, along with Queen Okoye and his sister Shuri. The latest installment of “Ultimate Black Panther” begins with a fierce battle between the factions, and the result is expected to transform Black Panther while also bestowing him with a new tool to bring an end to this war swiftly.

In issue #8 of “Black Panther: The Ultimate” series, the creative team consisting of Bryan Hill, Stefano Caselli, David Curiel, and Cory Petit bring us an intense battle. At first glance, it seems like Black Panther is winning this fight, but then a giant Moon Knight soldier enters the scene, ready to challenge the King of Wakanda. This soldier carries a sword with a green glow, identical to the artifact found deep beneath Wakanda by the Black Panther. We now know that this glowing element weakens Vibranium. After being wounded in his leg with the sword, Black Panther screams and experiences bizarre visions as cracks start appearing on his Vibranium armor.

In one of Black Panther’s visions, he sees two celestial bodies crashing, with what appears to be Vibranium raining down on Earth. Later, a bare T’Challa encounters a fragment of Vibranium, touching it causes him intense pain and sets off a transformation into a literal black panther. He later wakes up in a medical bed beside Okoye, who is attending to him. T’Challa expresses that the Vibranium feels alive to him, almost like it’s singing. He instructs Okoye to extend her blade in front of her, and T’Challa then directs the blade into his hand with a closed eye, using some sort of psychic control over the object.

Doctor Strange is about to make his Ultimate Universe debut

The extent of Black Panther’s newfound powers is still shrouded in secrecy at present. It seems as though T’Challa possesses an ability akin to ‘The Force’ from Star Wars, allowing him to converse with and manipulate Vibranium. In the words of T’Challa, “Our kingdom thrives on a force we don’t grasp yet.” He warns Okoye, “As long as we lack a complete understanding of Vibranium, Khonshu holds an edge over us.

In issue #8 of Black Panther: Ultimate Comics, Killmonger and Storm embark on a mission to track down the Sorcerer Supreme, who is suspected to be Doctor Strange. T’Challa assigns this task to them as he seeks assistance in deciphering the mysteries surrounding Vibranium and its supernatural aspects. Their search leads them to an individual in Eastern Europe; after subjecting him to rough treatment, he agrees to disclose the location of the Sorcerer Supreme.

Ultimate Black Panther #8 is on sale now from Marvel Comics.
