Marvel's Daredevil: Born Again Teases New Villain at D23

As a seasoned gamer and ardent fan of the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), I’ve been following the journey of Daredevil since his Netflix days with bated breath. The prospect of seeing him return in ‘Daredevil: Born Again‘ on Disney+ has me more excited than a kid on Christmas Eve!

At D23, Marvel’s unveiling is probably going to offer fans a preview of what they can anticipate from the impending Daredevil: Born Again series. Previously, ComicBook’s Phase Zero Podcast disclosed that peering through a TVA Door provided fans with insights into the upcoming Born Again series. Moreover, it appears that there could be a new villain collaborating with the Kingpin in this series. Interestingly, the backdrop of Daredevil: Born Again seems to hint at Muse having a substantial part in the initial season on Disney+, as it is adorned with graffiti.

Originally introduced by Charles Soule and Ron Garney back in 2016, Muse had a brief run lasting just a couple of years before meeting his demise in issue #600 of Daredevil. This enigmatic character was portrayed as a prolific murderer who viewed himself as an artist, using the blood of his victims to create macabre murals.

The character suits the MCU well due to his grisly crimes and substantial body count, making him more fitting for streaming platforms like Netflix-Marvel compared to Disney+. However, he possesses some superpowers that elevate him beyond typical Marvel characters we’ve seen in shows like Daredevil so far. According to the Marvel Wiki, Muse’s body functions like a vortex, absorbing all sensory data around him. This makes it challenging for even a character with enhanced senses like Daredevil to compete when facing Muse.

Over the course of his saga, Muse consistently adhered to the same strategies, but his intentions gradually grew unclear. Eventually, following a stint in prison and an escape involving violence, he transformed into an odd admirer of costumed crusaders, constructing a sanctuary dedicated to The Punisher. This led to several casualties among police officers and then-mayor Wilson Fisk, using Muse as proof that vigilantes pose a threat to the general public. Since Fisk was recently assaulted and severely injured by Echo, it’s conceivable that this narrative might unfold in the upcoming series, with Fisk leveraging public sentiment against street-level vigilantes who are often more brutal than The Avengers.

In the upcoming series “Daredevil: Born Again,” actor Charlie Cox reprises his role as Matt Murdock, also known as Daredevil. Alongside him will be Vincent D’Onofrio as Wilson Fisk, aka Kingpin, Jon Bernthal as Frank Castle, aka Punisher, Wilson Bethel as Benjamin Poindexter, aka Bullseye, Deborah Ann Woll as Karen Page, Elden Henson as Foggy Nelson, Ayelet Zurer as Vanessa Fisk, Margarita Levieva, Michael Gandolfini, Genneya Walton, and Arty Froushan are also part of the cast.

The highly anticipated series, “Daredevil: Born Again,” is set to debut on Disney+ in March 2025. If you’re not already a subscriber, you can easily join now.
