Marvel's Kevin Feige Responds to Deadpool & Wolverine's Latest Box Office Record

As a seasoned gamer and movie enthusiast with over two decades of experience under my belt, I must say that the box office success of “Deadpool & Wolverine” is nothing short of breathtaking! This flick has not only surpassed all expectations but also set new standards for R-rated movies. It’s a testament to the power of Marvel Studios and their ability to weave magic on the silver screen.

Kevin Feige, head of Marvel Studios, has penned a heartfelt message expressing gratitude towards the cast and crew behind the film “Deadpool & Wolverine.” This blockbuster production, now the highest-earning R-rated movie ever made, has far exceeded expectations and may even claim the title of the biggest box office success of 2024. Interestingly, it’s also boosted Disney’s summer earnings significantly, with “Inside Out 2” being the only film so far this year that has outperformed “Deadpool & Wolverine” at the global box office in 2024. As a fun touch, Feige’s message is titled “from the desk of Kevin Feige,” and it includes a list of humorous alternative names for cocaine – a playful reference to a beloved scene from the movie.

It’s wonderful to notice that people enjoy this film just as much as we did while creating it, as expressed by Feige in his message (which you can read further down in the Instagram post).

To claim the number one position, the films featuring Deadpool and Wolverine needed to surpass three other highly-ranked comic book movies. Two of these were the first two Deadpool movies themselves, while the third was Joker, a box office hit by Todd Phillips, which will have a sequel in October. It’s challenging to anticipate the reception for a Joker sequel, given that the original movie was unforeseen, but it wouldn’t be unexpected if it also joined the exclusive $1 billion club – a feat only achieved by two R-rated movies: Deadpool, Wolverine, and Joker.

In the Marvel Studios production titled “Deadpool & Wolverine,” Deadpool, played by Ryan Reynolds, is set to rewrite the story of the Marvel Cinematic Universe alongside Wolverine, portrayed by Hugh Jackman. The cast includes Matthew Macfadyen as Paradox and Emma Corrin as Cassandra Nova, while veterans from previous “Deadpool” installments such as Morena Baccarin, Leslie Uggams, Karan Soni, Stefan Kapi?i?, Brianna Hildebrand, Rob Delaney, and Lewis Tan reprise their roles. Additionally, Aaron Stanford is set to return as Pyro, a character from the “X-Men” film series, with speculations of Jennifer Garner returning as Elektra Natchios.

Kevin Feige, Ryan Reynolds, Shawn Levy, and Lauren Shuler Donner are the main producers of the film titled Deadpool & Wolverine. Louis D’Esposito, Wendy Jacobson, Mary McLaglen, Josh McLaglen, Rhett Reese, Paul Wernick, George Dewey, and Simon Kinberg serve as executive producers. The screenplay for this film is written by Ryan Reynolds, Rhett Reese, Paul Wernick, Zeb Wells, and Shawn Levy.

Deadpool & Wolverine was released exclusively in theaters on July 26th.
