Marvel's New Deadpool Puts Their Healing Factor to the Test (Exclusive)

As a long-time Deadpool fan and someone who’s been through the highs and lows of Wade Wilson’s rollercoaster life, I must say, Marvel’s decision to kill off Deadpool and bring his daughter Ellie into the picture is nothing short of a brave move. It’s like they took a sledgehammer to my childhood nostalgia, but in a good way!

As a die-hard fan, I must share some intriguing news: A fresh Deadpool has emerged on the scene, and there’s a lot of bloodshed in the name of Wade Wilson! You might be puzzled as to why Marvel Comics would consider offing Deadpool so soon after fans have poured their hard-earned cash into Deadpool & Wolverine? The truth is, I can’t quite put my finger on a definitive answer. However, the beauty of comics lies in their capacity to challenge conventional thinking. Marvel’s Deadpool ongoing series is demonstrating this with its audacious move to kill Deadpool and replace him with his daughter Ellie.

The latest issue of Deadpool (#7) is being unveiled first by ComicBook, featuring the work of creators Cody Ziglar, Alexis Quasarano, Andrea Di Vito, Guru-eFX, and Joe Sabino. The story unfolds a week after Deadpool was killed, with his daughter Ellie struggling to cope with her father’s demise. To hide her pain, Ellie channels her emotions into anger, engaging in a fight against a group of thugs. Reminiscent of the original Deadpool, Ellie takes bullets in her back and blows up her hand using a grenade. Although her healing factor will likely regenerate her hand, this action underscores that fans can still expect plenty of violence in the series, even with a new main character.

How did Marvel kill Deadpool?

Previously, Death Grip obtained the Muramasa Blade – a legendary artifact capable of neutralizing healing abilities. This is how Death Grip managed to cause severe harm to Deadpool. Though Wade anticipates his self-healing powers will eventually activate, we don’t witness their return following Death Grip’s recent assault.

In the tale, Deadpool gets ambushed by Death Grip who miraculously regrew his severed hands. The narrative doesn’t delve into how Death Grip survived the temple explosion or managed to reattach his hands. However, Death Grip himself boasts of being a skilled pupil of death, adept at escaping perilous situations. In the initial skirmish, Death Grip amputates Deadpool’s left arm, leaving him with only one leg standing. Then, Death Grip summons a spell to levitate Deadpool, followed by an explosive spell that fills the room with blue energy. This energy pulses through the remnants of Deadpool’s body, and when Death Grip is done, all that remains of Deadpool is a lifeless corpse. It seems as though Death Grip extracted Deadpool’s spirit from his body. His final words were a soft utterance of his daughter’s name, “Ellie,” as a tear trickled down his eye.

In the final moments, Deadpool contemplates his family and the contentment he had discovered after years of seeking it. This theme has been a significant part of Cody Ziglar and Rog Antonio’s work on Deadpool. Unfortunately, just when things seemed clear, this event transpires. For now, Ellie takes over Deadpool’s affairs, with Taskmaster and Princess standing by her side. We’ll have to wait and see how long Deadpool’s demise persists, and how Marvel will ingeniously resurrect him once more.
