Marvel Studios is merging the abilities of two of its most renowned characters for their upcoming Disney+ series, which is called “Ironheart“. This show brings Riri Williams (portrayed by Dominique Thorne) from Wakanda back to the streets of Chicago. In this city, she, a brilliant inventor, endeavors to create something remarkable. Her inspiration comes from Iron Man, and she constructed an iron suit during “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever“. Yet, her technology will receive an upgrade in “Ironheart” when she encounters the enigmatic Parker Robbins (Anthony Ramos), also known as The Hood.
In the fresh preview for “Ironheart”, it hints at an upgrade for Riri’s suit that merges the abilities of two Marvel Cinematic Universe characters. A significant aspect of “Ironheart” is delving into the crossroads where magic and technology meet, and based on the recent clips, her suit will encompass both these elements.
In the trailer, Riri expresses, “If I’m going to shield people, I must begin to think beyond the ordinary.” This unconventional thought process appears to drive Riri towards exploring the realm of magic, as she is depicted trying out enchanted spells and symbols.
In simpler terms, the outcome is something physical and magical, reminiscent of the enchantments used by Doctor Strange (played by Benedict Cumberbatch) in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. This implies that Riri might learn about Eldritch magic during her upcoming adventure, Ironheart, and possibly be tutored by The Hood, another character skilled in magical arts within the MCU.
As a die-hard cinema enthusiast, I can’t help but marvel at the prospect of Riri’s armored suit evolving to match the caliber of Iron Man’s (Robert Downey Jr’s character). But what truly sets my heart racing is the idea of imbuing this tech-laden armor with magical prowess – a revolutionary step for the Marvel Cinematic Universe. This fusion would grant Riri the collective might of two of the MCU’s most formidable heroes: Iron Man and Doctor Strange, making her an unparalleled force to be reckoned with.
The trailer indicates that the enchantment is embedded within the core of the armor, and the user interface within the helmet’s visor utilizes magical symbols as part of the control system. Incorporating Eldritch magic into the Iron Suit design sets Riri apart from Iron Man by blending ancient sorcery with modern technology.
Following the debut of the Ironheart trailer, some viewers expressed doubts that Riri’s endeavor to create something “new” would merely result in another version of the Iron Man suit. However, by merging magic and technology into her creation, Riri distinguishes herself from being just an imitator and solidifies her position as a formidable player within the Marvel Cinematic Universe, rather than a mere copy of Iron Man.
The Phase 5 MCU TV show titled “Ironheart” is set to debut with three of its total six episodes dropping on Disney+ on June 24th. This series is the brainchild of Chinaka Hodge, while Ryan Coogler from “Black Panther” will act as a producer. The ensemble cast includes Dominique Thorne, Anthony Ramos, Alden Ehrenreich, and Lyric Ross.

Will Ironheart Crossover with Doctor Strange?
In the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), the appearance of magic in Ironheart is a rare occurrence, usually confined to Doctor Strange’s appearances. But if the TV series sticks to the origin stories of its comic book characters, this connection becomes clear.
In Marvel Comics lore, The Hood obtains his powers following the theft of a cursed hood imbued with extraordinary abilities. However, this acquisition unwittingly binds him as both a host and servant to Dormammu, the potent ruler of the Dark Dimension. Dormammu is the primary adversary in the initial Doctor Strange film, where he was bested by the sorcerer who cleverly imprisoned the villain within an endless time loop. Eventually, they reached a deal that allowed Dormammu to leave Earth, but only after being freed from this time loop.
Ironheart could potentially provide a route for Dormammu’s return within the Marvel Cinematic Universe storyline. Should Dormammu decide to manipulate Parker Robbins as his tool, this could create a loophole in the agreement between Dormammu and Strange, enabling him to carry on with his schemes on Earth.
It’s likely that the Masters of the Mystic Arts would find interest in Riri’s magical explorations or the possibility of Dormammu’s resurrection, which might lead to an appearance by Wong, the Supreme Sorcerer.
