Marvel’s New Hit Series Is Crushing on Streaming, That Bodes Well for Daredevil: Born Again

Marvel's New Hit Series Is Crushing on Streaming, That Bodes Well for Daredevil: Born Again

As a long-time fan who’s seen my fair share of Marvel movies and shows, I can confidently say that the latest development in Daredevil: Born Again has me more excited than a kid on Christmas morning. With Agatha All Along setting a budget-friendly precedent for Marvel Studios, we might just be seeing the return of our favorite street-level heroes without breaking the bank. And let’s face it, rendering Hulks can get pretty costly!

As a die-hard Marvel fan, I’m thrilled about the latest addition to Disney+, “Agatha All Along,” which has been a massive hit among viewers and critics alike. Starring the talented Kathryn Hahn, this show is garnering rave reviews on Rotten Tomatoes with a Certified Fresh rating. The spinoff of “WandaVision” even managed to attract 9.8 million viewers in its first week on Disney+. For those of us who have been eagerly waiting for the return of Agatha Harkness since her scene-stealing debut in the first MCU TV series, this is a dream come true.

The upcoming series titled “Daredevil: Born Again” is essentially a follow-up to the Netflix version of “Daredevil”. Actors like Charlie Cox, Vincent D’Onofrio, and others are returning after a brief absence. This show was already generating excitement as a Marvel property before the recent changes at Marvel Studios. Now that adjustments have been made to align the show more closely with its Netflix roots, the anticipation has grown even greater. The budget for “Born Again” is expected to be similar to shows like “Echo” or “Agatha All Along”, rather than “Secret Invasion”. This is primarily due to the challenges faced by series such as Nick Fury’s show, “Loki”, and “The Falcon and The Winter Soldier” during 2020’s health crisis. So, fans can look forward to seeing a well-known character alongside familiar faces. Additionally, since street-level heroes like Daredevil don’t typically require extensive visual effects like those seen in “Loki” or “Secret Invasion”, it should be more cost-effective. It’s also been mentioned that rendering Hulks on screen can be expensive, and there won’t be much of that in this series.

Fans of street-level heroes should find this news pleasing, as the direction of the franchise has been leaning towards their style for some time now. The upcoming lineup in 2025 includes titles such as Ironheart, Red Hulk in Captain America 4, and The Fantastic Four, which are known for their visual effects. Compared to other projects that typically feature more gunfights and hand-to-hand combat, these titles are more budget-friendly. Even the upcoming Blade movie, currently in development, is not expected to be a massive financial investment, as some fans had feared. Instead of worrying about the financial aspects, it might be wiser for fans to simply appreciate these movies and shows for what they offer. Interestingly, the cost reductions have coincided with some well-received projects, and this trend is likely to continue as Marvel Studios moves forward into 2025’s lineup.

Daredevil: Born Again Is Going To Feel Like An Event

Without delving into financial matters, the upcoming Marvel series “Daredevil: Born Again” has generated much excitement among fans for nearly two years now. Many have assumed they wouldn’t see Charlie Cox or Vincent D’onofrio reprise their iconic roles again within that realm. However, Marvel Studios responded to the pleas on social media with the hashtag “#SaveDaredevil,” leading us here. This summer at D23 Expo, eager fans got a sneak peek of the intense action expected in “Daredevil: Born Again,” which will officially debut in 2025. A word of caution: Due to its mature content, this series may be more intense than some viewers are accustomed to on Disney Plus. For long-time fans, this is excellent news, but it might take others by surprise.

During the final stages of X-Men ’97, ComicBook had a conversation with Brad Winderbaum, head of TV, streaming, and animation at Marvel Studios. Winderbaum shared that the company plans to reintroduce Marvel Television, aiming to make future projects more approachable for audiences who may feel overwhelmed by the rich history of certain Marvel characters.

Winderbaum emphasized that Marvel aims to keep its doors open, inviting everyone to delve into the Marvel universe at their own pace. Post-‘Endgame’, there might have been a feeling of needing to watch every Marvel production to understand anything. However, as a comics fan, you’re aware that each piece stands alone, offering an entry point to the broader universe. With the rebranding of Marvel Studios, Marvel Television, Marvel Animation, and Marvel Spotlight, our goal is to communicate that you can join us wherever suits you best. While the stories are interconnected, they’re not dependent on each other. You’re free to pursue what interests you most within the vast Marvel tapestry.
