Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 PC Release Date Finally Revealed!

One of the PlayStation games Sony has kept for consoles, Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, will no longer be exclusive starting January 30, 2025. This means that Peter Parker and Miles Morales’ latest adventure will be accessible to a whole new group of players who can enjoy it on their PCs.

Although it is currently January 30th, there remains a brief wait before the game can be played. Here are some steps to prepare yourself for the upcoming superhero adventure.

When does Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 unlock on PC?

At the moment I’m writing this (10 a.m. in the UK), Spider-Man 2 becomes available on Steam in about 5 hours. This means it will be released at 3 p.m. in the UK, which corresponds to 10 a.m. Eastern Time and 7 a.m. Pacific Time.

Although Steam lacks a specific timer, it may provide playtime a bit earlier or later than expected, but it does offer an approximate timeframe for when you can begin gaming during the day.

Unfortunately, it appears there isn’t a pre-load option available for Spider-Man 2 at this moment. This means you’ll need to download the game once it becomes accessible. Given that the game requires approximately 140 GB of storage, if your internet connection isn’t incredibly fast, you might find yourself waiting several hours after the unlock time before you can start playing.

On Epic Games too, you’ll find Spider-Man 2, and here’s a relief – there are no countdown timers. So, it can reasonably be expected that its release on Epic will align with its debut on Steam.

Not hefty PC requirements aside from storage, which bodes well for handhelds

These two games, Marvel’s Spider-Man Remastered and Spider-Man Miles Morales, perform exceptionally well on personal computers and portable devices like the Steam Deck and ROG Ally. I’ve personally enjoyed playing both of them on my Steam Deck, and it seems that their sequel will offer a similar smooth gaming experience as well.

Before the launch, it’s yet to be confirmed if Steam Deck is fully compatible, but there are hopeful indicators. Similar to its predecessors, Spider-Man 2 is designed to work with AMD FSR 3.1 and Frame Gen, as well as Intel XeSS and NVIDIA DLSS. With a relatively low demand for both CPU and GPU resources, the prospects seem positive.

As a researcher exploring portable gaming devices, I find it particularly exciting to delve into the potential of the ROG Ally and Lenovo Legon Go. These two standouts appear to outperform the Steam Deck substantially, which adds even more promise to their capabilities in the gaming market.

For both desktop and laptop users, the system specifications are flexible enough to indicate that most individuals can enjoy playing the game smoothly, while the availability of various upscaling technologies ensures that only a minimal number of people will be completely unable to play it.

We’ll assess how well the computer performs once the game launches, even on portable devices, so keep an eye out for future updates!
