Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart on PS5 Pro Offer 4K/60 FPS With Ray Tracing

As a seasoned gamer with decades of experience under my belt, I can’t help but feel a surge of excitement upon hearing about the Performance Pro mode for PlayStation 5 Pro titles. Having grown up with the original Spider-Man games on the PS1, it’s heartwarming to see Insomniac Games continue to innovate and push the boundaries of what we thought was possible in gaming.

Given the growing collection of games designed for the PlayStation 5 Pro, it’s quite logical for Insomniac Games to jump on board with this exciting trend. Previously, they have hinted that Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 will take advantage of the console’s enhanced capabilities, but a recent PlayStation Blog post sheds light on the specifics: through a feature called Performance Pro.

Mike Fitzgerald, the technology director at Insomniac Games, explains their core technology as a blend of Fidelity mode’s high-definition 4K resolution and ray tracing, along with Performance mode’s smooth 60 frames per second. This combination offers an ideal experience for the open-world superhero game, but that’s not the only aspect.

In addition, Performance Pro mode will be accessible across all Insomniac’s PlayStation 5 games, which include Marvel’s Spider-Man Remastered, Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales, and Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart. Furthermore, Fitzgerald expressed their enthusiasm about exploring further methods to optimize the PS5 Pro in these existing titles as well as upcoming games like Marvel’s Wolverine, with the intention of enhancing the gaming experience even more.

Although there’s no confirmed release date for Marvel’s Wolverine, leaks from Insomniac last year hint towards a 2026 launch. It’s possible that this game could utilize the capabilities of the PS5 Pro in innovative ways, but we may have to wait a while before more details are unveiled.
