Marvel’s Spider-Man 2’s Performance on PC Has Not Been Amazing

Approximately three weeks have passed since Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 by Insomniac was released for PC, and it seems that the initial response could be generously characterized as mildly enthusiastic at best. With time allowing for a clearer perspective, it appears that the decision makers at PlayStation should engage in some intensive brainstorming and reconsider their approach; the latest Spider-Man journey has become one of the most disastrous releases from PlayStation Studios on Steam, which is quite notable.

Fortunately for the word-loving scribe who dreads numbers, TheGamer thoroughly scrutinized the statistics, examining graphs and data, ultimately determining that Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 ranks as the third-weakest debut on Steam for Sony, surpassed only by The Last of Us: Part I and Returnal. They based their findings on SteamDB data, which analyzed every PS Studios release to date, except remasters, considering average player count and positive review score percentages across the two weeks following their launches.

In a comparison, Spider-Man 2 boasted approximately 13,638 players and earned 67 positive reviews. This may seem decent until you contrast it with Days Gone, which had 20,708 players and 93 positive reviews. However, when it comes to the top performers on PC from PlayStation Studios, God of War 2018 takes the lead with an average of 47,142 players and 97 positive reviews according to TheGamer’s criteria.
