As a lifelong Marvel fan, I can confidently say that the upcoming events in the Spider-Verse are nothing short of exhilarating! Having grown up with the original Peter Parker and following Miles Morales’ journey since his debut, I’m thrilled to see how the multiverse saga unfolds. The cliffhanger at the end of Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse has left me on the edge of my seat, eagerly awaiting the next installment.
The prospect of the Spider-Verse colliding with the Venomverse is a comic book enthusiast’s dream come true! As someone who appreciates both worlds, I can hardly contain my excitement for the epic battle that lies ahead. The unique blend of Spidey-powers and symbiote mayhem promises to deliver an action-packed spectacle that will leave fans craving more.
The addition of new characters like Count Parker, Spider-Prowler, and Spider-Hulk adds a fresh twist to the storyline, making it feel even more unpredictable and exciting. I’m particularly intrigued by the Venomverse introductions, especially Venomouse and Katie Power – their unique abilities and personalities will surely add an interesting dynamic to the conflict.
With veteran creators like Groom, Vecchio, and Schultz at the helm, I have no doubt that the storyline will be masterfully executed. The humor and wit that Marvel is known for will undoubtedly shine through in this epic crossover event. In fact, I’d go as far as to say that if you enjoy a good superhero brawl accompanied by some well-timed humor, then the Spider-Verse vs. Venomverse is the comic book event of 2025 for you!
On a lighter note, I can’t help but wonder: will we finally find out if a Spider-Symbiote would be more powerful than a symbiotic Wall-Crawler? Only time (and the comics) will tell!
A fresh Spider-Verse event is underway, and following the animated movie “Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse” in 2023, Miles Morales (played by Shameik Moore) and Gwen Stacy (Hailee Steinfeld), now part of the Spider-Man 2099’s (Oscar Isaac) special team known as the Spider Society, have been traveling between dimensions again. They were chasing their new enemy, the Spot (Jason Schwartzman), across various universes. However, Miles discovered that he poses a unique threat to the multiverse due to his anomalous status.
In a twist, Miles journeyed to Earth-42, a world originally inhabited by the radioactive spider that bit him in ‘Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse’ (2018). This departure left his reality without its Spider-Man. Instead of his father Jeff (Brian Tyree Henry), Miles’ uncle Aaron (Mahershala Ali) resided in this alternate universe, which was plagued by crime. As a consequence, Miles took on the role of a costumed villain, known as the Prowler.
Although we won’t find out how that movie cliffhanger ends until the third Spider-Verse film (currently without a confirmed release date, as Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse was removed from Sony’s schedule in 2023), a new Spider-Verse series will keep fans excited about Miles and Prowler Miles.
Spider-Verse vs. Venomverse
In the one-shot comic, Marvel’s “Spider-Verse: Web of New Blood” #1, a new character, Miles as Spider-Prowler, will make his appearance. This unique blend of Spiderman and Prowler will first appear alongside Count Parker, the vampire Spiderman, and an alternate version of Peter Parker who remained permanently transformed into Spider-Hulk (from the 1990’s “Spider-Man: Web” #70).
In the upcoming comic, titled “Web of Venomverse: Fresh Brains #1″, we’ll see the foundation being laid for the next major Spider-Verse event: “Spider-Verse vs. Venomverse“. This five-issue series will feature a fierce battle between Spider-People and Venom symbiote hosts, described as a “reality-altering war”.
The creative team behind the new comic, titled “New Blood“, consists of writers Mat Groom, Greg Pak, Chris Eliopoulos, and artists Luciano Vecchio, Sumit Kumar, and Alan Robinson, with Eliopoulos also contributing to the writing.
This comic titled “Fresh Brains” penned by Groom, Vecchio, and Eliopoulos, is enriched with narratives from Erica Schultz known for her work on “Daredevil: Woman Without Fear“, and David Dastmalchian, an actor in Marvel productions as well as the writer of “Count Crowley“. The illustrations are crafted by Vecchio, Eliopoulos, Chris Allen known for his work on “Black Panther“, Dylan Burnett renowned for his work on “X-Force“, and Juan José Ryp, who has worked on “Venom War: Zombiotes“.
Or in a more concise way:
“Fresh Brains” is written by Groom, Vecchio, and Eliopoulos with additional stories from Erica Schultz (Daredevil: Woman Without Fear) and David Dastmalchian (Marvel actor and Count Crowley writer). Illustrations are provided by Vecchio, Eliopoulos, Chris Allen (Black Panther), Dylan Burnett (X-Force), and Juan José Ryp (Venom War: Zombiotes).
2014 marked the groundbreaking introduction of Spider-Verse by Dan Slott and Olivier Copiel, a move that fundamentally reshaped the Spider-Man universe and left an indelible impact worldwide. Following this revolution, creators like Donny Cates, Al Ewing, and Ram V have similarly redefined the Venom mythos, creating a transformation that’s undeniably crucial and transformative. The prospect of merging these two worlds is not just an honor but a privilege, providing us with the chance to test both communities’ resilience against an impending tempest. Will they stand strong in the face of adversity or succumb under pressure? The anticipation is palpable!
As a passionate fan of the Spider-Man and Venom universes, I can’t contain my excitement for diving back into their epic saga! Just as Vecchio, the mastermind behind these iconic characters, shared, we’re not just revisiting our beloved heroes but also unveiling a plethora of new faces. This creative endeavor presents an incredible opportunity to flex my design muscles – a task I always relish.
This time around, the focus is on VERSUS! The narrative unfolding in these books feels like playing through the story mode of an exhilarating combat game, brimming with endless action and excitement. It’s truly a thrill ride that I can’t wait for you all to experience!
