Marvel's Star Wars: Inquisitors Finale Teases Darth Vader vs. Jedi Survivor of Order 66

As a die-hard Star Wars fan with a heart full of nostalgia for the galaxy far, far away, I eagerly devour every new story that comes my way. The latest saga unfolding in Marvel’s Star Wars: Inquisitors has me on the edge of my seat! Tensu Run, this enigmatic Jedi Knight who survived Order 66, embodies a beacon of hope amidst the darkness of the Empire.

In the Marvel’s “Star Wars: Inquisitors” #1 comic, Darth Vader commands the Grand Inquisitor to track down and eliminate the cunning Jedi Knight Tensu Run. This four-issue miniseries, written by Rodney Barnes (known for “Star Wars: Ahsoka”) and illustrated by Ramon Rosanas (“Star Wars: Age of Resistance”), unfolds during the Empire’s reign between the incidents of “Revenge of the Sith” and “A New Hope”. The series will culminate in a climactic confrontation between Darth Vader and a new legendary Jedi, set for release in October.

In issue #4 of ‘Star Wars: Inquisitors’, Nick Bradshaw’s cover depicts Tenshu Mon standing defiantly against Darth Vader and the quartet of Jedi hunters – the Grand Inquisitor, the Fifth Brother, the Seventh Sister, and the Ninth Sister.

Similar to Yoda, Obi-Wan Kenobi, and Cal Kestis, Tensu Run is among those who outlived the devastating Order 66 decree by Emperor Palpatine. Now, his Inquisitorius – a group of dark side adepts with Force abilities, as depicted in Star Wars Rebels, the live-action Obi-Wan Kenobi series, and the Star Wars Jedi video games – are persistently searching the galaxy for Tensu Run. This survivor of Order 66 embodies hope, aiming to reestablish the once-great Jedi Order.

A FEW ISSUES AGO IN A GALAXY FAR, FAR AWAY…

According to the Grand Inquisitor, Tensu Run has morphed into an idea that seems nearly indestructible. This Jedi was creating a sanctuary among the Diagu people on the tranquil planet Targyon. Vader mentions that Order 66 has wiped out almost all of the Jedi. Now they survive in the gloomy corners of the galaxy, living in despair. Their only chance is faith itself – the belief that one can rise from ruins and provide guidance like a beacon. For this reason, Tensu Run must perish.

Vader recalls the legend of Tensu Run was born at the conquest of Regis Kor, an Imperial outpost and black site until it was liberated by the Jedi. Meanwhile, on the agricultural planet Zayron in the galaxy’s Outer Rim territories, fellow Jedi in hiding Uhron and Pan Delesec tell Tensu: “The fate of the Jedi rests in your hands.” While he seeks to rebuild their fallen Order, Tensu says, “We are but a moment. The Jedi will last forever.”

Master Elan, who is a Jedi Master, thinks that the Force guided Tensu Run to head the Jedi towards a fresh beginning. When the slow-moving space salvager Pii-Lor tells the Grand Inquisitor that the Jedi had docked their ship on the Voyager Dawn, Tensu Run senses a disturbance in the Force as the Grand Inquisitor murders Master Elan and his fellow Jedi.

From Fortress Vader on Mustafar, Vader dispatches the Fifth Brother to do what the Grand Inquisitor failed to do: kill Tensu Run. “The Empire casts a shadow over the galaxy. That shadow is dependent upon the suppression of the Jedi. For they represent hope, the most dangerous of sentiments,” Vader tells him.

In a desolate and once-thriving colony called Gerrigon, the Jedi takes the initiative to face off against the Fifth Brother. This remote outpost was the tragic site of a civil war, resulting in the slaughter of most of its inhabitants when both the Republic and the Jedi Order failed to intervene. If Tensu aims to inspire defiance and uprising, the Fifth Brother responds with a chilling statement: “My very being is destined to enact Order 66. Nothing beyond that.”

Tensu explains that the Jedi’s philosophy is deeply tied to faith, and it embodies their essence. If he should fall, the Jedi will persevere. In a duel with the Fifth Brother, Tensu Run triumphs but declines the offer for his destruction. Instead of ending his life, the Jedi grants him mercy, stating: “It’s important that you convey to your master that Tensu Run is still alive.”

Star Wars: Inquisitors #4 goes on sale October 2nd from Marvel Comics.
