As a seasoned gamer and comic book enthusiast with decades of experience under my belt, I must say that the upcoming Marvel Comics series, TVA, has piqued my interest like never before. With its blend of characters from various timelines, including fan-favorites Loki, Captain Peggy Carter, Gwen Stacy/Ghost-Spider, and a disgruntled Gambit variant, this series promises to be a thrilling ride through the multiverse.
Regarding the TVA, a time management organization, its existence can be traced back to issue #372 of Thor, published in 1986. In this story, a time-traveling police officer pursued the Zaniac to prevent a future where World War VII had already taken place. Despite discussions about time anomalies, local temporal disruptions, and monitoring non-existent timelines with no significance, the TVA made appearances in various comic series such as Fantastic Four, What If…?, and Despicable Deadpool before apprehending a time-traveling Loki (Tom Hiddleston) in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
In addition to Ghost-Spider, formerly Gwen Stacy from Earth-65 who now resides on Earth-616, and a troubled version of Gambit similar to the one portrayed by Channing Tatum in ‘Deadpool & Wolverine’, the TVA has assembled a group of heroes from erased realities to protect the multiverse.

In this upcoming five-part series, penned by Kathryn Blair (known for her work on Loki and Daredevil: Born Again) and illustrated by Pere Pérez (Edge of Spider-Verse and Venom War: Carnage), we’ll witness a fascinating amalgamation of the Marvel Comics depiction of the TVA with its MCU equivalent. As described by Loki’s production designer Kasra Farahani, this unique blend incorporates elements of Eastern European, Soviet-influenced Modernism, along with an intriguing fusion of massive Brutalist architecture and American mid-century Modern playfulness.
TVA #1
For quite some time, the Time Variance Authority has safeguarded the timeline, preventing potential disasters that could lead to the annihilation of all things. As the organization broadens its acceptance of variations, it’s bringing in new members from timelines that no longer exist: Captain Peggy Carter, a super-soldier from her universe; Gambit, feeling lost and purposeless following the disappearance of his beloved; and surprisingly, Spider-Gwen! Could her world have been wiped out?
