The lives of these characters are being pushed to their absolute limits, and it’s a testament to the writers and artists involved that they can keep us on the edge of our seats.
Mr. Stark, it seems you’ve been drawn into a larger cosmos. The Reed Richards of Earth-1610 manipulated time to reshape reality as ‘The Maker’, a world where the Fantastic Four never emerged and the heroes of Earth-6160 were deprived of their powers before they could manifest. A teenage Tony Stark then began gathering the Ultimates Network, an alliance of superheroes standing up against the Maker’s Council, who secretly govern this world.
As Marvel Comics’ Ultimate Universe completes its second year, a sneak peek at upcoming editions of titles like Ultimates, Ultimate Spider-Man, Ultimate Black Panther, Ultimate X-Men, and the fresh series, Ultimate Wolverine, is being shared. The latter, penned by Chris Condon (from Image’s That Texas Blood) and illustrated by Alessandro Cappuccio (from Moon Knight), spins off from December’s Ultimate Universe: One Year In, #1, which marks the conclusion of the first year of the new Ultimate line and also introduces Ultimate Nick Fury.
In November’s issue #6 of Ultimates, an unprecedented team consisting of Iron Lad (Stark), Captain America (Steve Rogers), Thor, Sif, Hawkeye (Charli Ramsey), She-Hulk (Lejori Joena Zakaria), America Chavez, Giant-Man (Hank Pym), the Wasp (Janet van Dyne), the Human Torch (Jim Hammond), and Doom (Reed Richards of Earth-6160) joined forces for the first time. This issue marked their mission to free a dozen superpowered prisoners held captive in a Damage Control black site by the Maker’s Council, with the Maker expected to return 12 months later.
