Marvel's Venom War Preview Released

As a longtime Marvel fan who’s been through thick and thin, from the birth of the Avengers to the rise and fall (and rise again) of Galactus, I must say that the upcoming “Venom War” has me absolutely thrilled! The prospect of Venom stepping into the squared circle is akin to witnessing Hulk’s first smash or Spider-Man swinging through New York City for the very first time.

The much-anticipated event known as the “Venom War” commences this week, and a sneak peek offers a glimpse into the initial skirmish. Marvel has decided to pit its two Venom carriers, Eddie Brock and Dylan Brock, against each other in the latest series. Symbiotes from diverse regions of the Marvel Universe will participate in “Venom War,” as sides are being defined. By joining either Team Eddie or Team Dylan, readers find themselves immersed in a modern reinterpretation of HBO’s “Game of Thrones” or “House of the Dragon.” Fans should brace themselves for significant alterations within the “Venom” franchise, but for now, a peek at the first issue unveils some key characters.

In a recent announcement, Marvel unveiled a sneak peek for issue #1 of “Venom War” penned by Al Ewing, illustrated by Iban Coello, colored by Frank D’Armata, and lettered by VC’s Ariana Maher. The narrative transports us to the Grand Garden Arena in New York City, where a wrestling spectacle unfolds with symbiote-costumed combatants. Symbiote Smith extends an open invitation, which is accepted by The Lumberjack and Ken “Caveman” Corrigan. However, their bout is abruptly disrupted by Gavin “Gator” Grant, resembling a real alligator. Right before they engage in battle, Eddie Brock and his alternate-universe Venom counterparts – Wilde, Tyro, and Bedlam – appear from the timestream.

Afterward, we drop by Peter Parker’s apartment where, unintentionally, he dons his black and white Spider-Man suit. However, this costume is none other than the Venom symbiote, a character with whom Spider-Man has a tumultuous bond. The symbiote urges Peter not to panic, but before we find out its message for him, the preview concludes.

In the notorious Red Room, their training begins, then shifts towards a more intimate approach. Black Widow utilizes significant figures from her own life such as Bucky Barnes (The Winter Soldier), Spider-Woman, Hawkeye, Nick Fury, and Agent Phil Coulson, to finish the symbiote’s education. Once this is accomplished, the symbiote recombines with Black Widow, revealing a fresh costume designed for her.
