As a die-hard Mass Effect fan who’s journeyed through the Milky Way multiple times over, this news has me hopping around like a quarian on a dance floor! After years of speculation and whispers, it seems that the universe I’ve grown to love is finally making its way onto the small screen.
Although BioWare hasn’t specifically appeased Mass Effect fans on N7 Day as promised, there appears to be some substantial news concerning the franchise nonetheless. It was previously announced in 2021 that Amazon was contemplating a TV series based on Mass Effect, and it seems this project has now progressed to an official stage.
According to Variety’s report, the popular “Mass Effect” series has begun development at Amazon MGM Studios. The show’s writer will be Daniel Casey, who is famously known for penning “Fast and Furious 9” (also known as “F9: The Fast Saga”). Casey will also serve as an executive producer, and he’ll be joined by other executive producers such as Karim Zreik from the Cedar Tree Productions Banner, Ari Arad, and Michael Gamble from BioWare. Notably, Gamble is not only a writer but also the project director for the upcoming “Mass Effect” game.
Information about the show’s content, including the games it will include and its cast members, remains a mystery for now. However, after much speculation about a potential Mass Effect adaptation, it seems that the project has finally received official approval. So, keep your fingers crossed for some solid information to surface soon!
