With the arrival of Nintendo Switch 2, there’s a significant boost for games originally available on N64 through Nintendo Switch Online. Currently, subscribers to Nintendo Switch Online can enhance their subscription by opting for the Expansion Pack. This additional feature grants access to a variety of N64 games via the Nintendo Switch Online app. At present, this collection comprises 33 N64 titles such as Super Mario 64, GoldenEye 007, Star Fox 64, Wave Race 64, Paper Mario, The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, and numerous other exceptional games from that time period.
Regretfully, Nintendo has not indicated plans to eliminate the Expansion Pack prerequisite for N64 games yet. However, users who upgrade their Nintendo Switch to the anticipated Nintendo Switch 2 model later this year may find an enhancement in their gaming experience.
Essentially, Nintendo has announced that when you play N64 games from the Nintendo Switch Online library on the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2, you’ll find a new CRT filter, which provides a vintage gaming feel. Additionally, each N64 game will offer button remapping and a rewind feature – options that aren’t present on the current Nintendo Switch. It’s important to note that these enhanced features are exclusive to the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2.
Just a friendly heads up, here’s the list of N64 games you can play on your Nintendo Switch with the Online Expansion Pack: 1080 Snowboarding, Banjo Kazooie, Banjo-Tooie, Blast Corps, Dr. Mario 64, Excitebike 64, Extreme G, F-Zero X, GoldenEye 007, Harvest Moon 64, Iggy’s Reckin’ Balls, Jet Force Gemini, Kirby 64: The Crystal Shards, Mario Golf, Mario Kart 64, Mario Party (1, 2, and 3), Mario Tennis, Paper Mario, Pilotwings 64, Pokemon Puzzle League, Pokemon Snap, Pokemon Stadium and its sequel, Ridge Racer 64, Sin & Punishment, Star Fox 64, Super Mario 64, The Legend of Zelda: Majora’s Mask, The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, Wave Race 64, Win Back: Covert Operations, and Yoshi’s Story.
For individuals who are intrigued, the Nintendo Switch Online Expansion Pack costs fifty dollars when opting for a 12-month subscription. At present, this is the sole duration option available for Nintendo enthusiasts to select.
