Mastermind confirms start date as quiz returns for 2024/2025 season

As a seasoned cinephile with a penchant for intellectual pursuits and a deep-rooted affection for BBC Two, I eagerly welcome the return of Mastermind this August. With a career spanning decades in journalism and an undeniable charm that makes even the most daunting subjects seem approachable, Clive Myrie is an ideal choice to guide us through this iconic quiz show.

Clive Myrie will return to host classic quiz show Mastermind this August, the BBC has confirmed.

The upcoming competition, designed for our brightest thinkers, will challenge the nation, with its winners earning the title of the supreme Mastermind.

As a lifelong fan of brain-teasing challenges and trivia games, I am thrilled to share my excitement for the upcoming season of Mastermind, scheduled to begin on Monday, August 12th at 7:30pm on BBC Two and iPlayer. With its intricate questions designed to stimulate the mind, it’s always been a go-to program that keeps me engaged and entertained. I can’t wait to test my knowledge once again, as I believe these intellectual pursuits have been instrumental in keeping my mental faculties sharp over the years. Don’t miss out on this exhilarating experience; join me in tuning into Mastermind 2024/2025!

Every time, I’ll take on two minutes of queries about my area of expertise, then delve into nearly three minutes of diverse trivia.

In each round, the victor advances to the semifinals. After that, the top six contestants move on to the Final Showdown, where one of them will eventually be crowned the Mastermind Winner and receive the Mastermind Trophy as their prize.

The iconic quiz, first created by Bill Wright, celebrated its 50th anniversary back in 2022.

In the year 2021, John Humphreys shared that he would be stepping down from his position on Mastermind following 18 years of service. Later, it was officially announced that BBC News journalist Clive Myrie would take over his role.

In an interview with TopMob magazine, the host of News at Ten shared: “I aim to be a welcoming presence as the contestants enter… The questions can seem intimidating, and the chair may feel daunting. However, I won’t add to their apprehension.”

“I’m there as a friend and we could, potentially, have a drink afterwards.”

Mastermind returns to BBC Two on Monday 12th August at 7:30pm.
