As an ardent fan, I can empathize with Matt Damon‘s sentiments as he bids farewell to his eldest daughter Isabella, who is about to embark on her college journey at NYU this fall. Being a parent myself, I too know the bittersweet feeling of watching our children grow and leave the nest. It’s a surreal experience that seems to speed up as we age, making us cherish those moments even more.
Matt Damon isn’t ready for his daughter to leave home base.
As a parent myself, I can relate to Matt Damon’s feelings as he prepares to send his eldest daughter Isabella off to New York University this fall. The bittersweet mix of pride and sadness that comes with watching your child embark on their own journey is an experience that transcends age, culture, and circumstance.
“He shared with Will Marfuggi from TopMob News during an exclusive chat with Casey Affleck and Hong Chau on The Instigators that it’s incredibly intense. He explained that as time goes by, it becomes increasingly surreal because it seems like he was holding her just yesterday.”
In addition, he cautioned Hong, a parent of two young children aged under 4, by saying, “Time passes swiftly for new parents like yourselves.” (Don’t miss Matt, Casey, and Hong on TopMob News tonight, July 30, at 11 p.m.).
When Matt confessed that seeing his dad cry was one of the first times during his older brother’s college drop-off, Casey, who has sons Indiana (20) and Atticus (16) with ex Summer Phoenix, echoed, “It feels like a goodbye, don’t you understand?”
Even though Matt and Casey can’t go back in time with their children, they managed to reminisce about their childhood memories in Boston by working on the project The Instigators.
“Matt mentioned that parts of the movie were filmed here and in New York, but this was his first return to Boston since production. Interestingly, none of his family reside here now; his mother is currently abroad, and his brother was away. Consequently, his visit felt quite unusual.” (Attributed to Ben Affleck)
Casey could relate.
“Occasionally that’s the case,” he playfully teased with his co-star. “I step off the plane and I imagine everyone cheering and welcoming me with a ‘Hey, Boston!’ But instead, it feels like nobody recognizes me.”
