Matt James and Rachael Kirkconnell’s journey seemingly ended with a European getaway.
Previously on “The Bachelor”, the man who had courted Rachael during season 25 appeared to be in a relationship with her. However, despite announcing their separation on January 16, they gave no signs of trouble in the days leading up to their breakup becoming public knowledge.
On Instagram, on January 12th, he shared a video about a visit to a sushi restaurant in London with Rachael, who’s 28 years old. He continued posting clips showcasing various popular spots in the city, all including his former partner, ending with a summary of their pizza date on January 15th.
On the next day, Matt disclosed that he and Rachael had decided to separate, expressing this decision in a post on social media that was styled as a prayer.
God our Father, grant Rachel and me the fortitude to heal our fractured hearts. Bless us with a serenity concerning our choice to part ways, a tranquility that surpasses human comprehension.” (This version maintains the religious tone while making the language more accessible and flow smoothly.)
Rachel hasn’t spoken out about the breakup yet, but her latest Instagram post was a touching birthday tribute for her former boyfriend a month ago, referring to him as “the one who holds all of my heart.
She expressed her gratitude in December, saying that you fill her (and her heart) with countless amounts of love, joy, and laughter. She feels incredibly grateful to share this journey of life with you.”
“In addition, she appreciates your constant love, encouragement, affectionate kisses, and warm embraces.
In 2021, Matt’s season of “The Bachelor” was broadcast, and it was during this series that their love story began, culminating in Rachael receiving Matt’s final rose in the finale. However, they separated not long after, due to an issue involving racially insensitive photos of Rachael. Yet, they managed to reconcile several weeks following the broadcast of the “After the Final Rose” special.
It wasn’t just Rachael who faced consequences from her photo scandal within the Bachelor Nation; Chris Harrison, who started hosting the franchise since its debut in 2002 with The Bachelor season one, stepped down from his role in June 2021 following his controversial remarks supporting her during the ensuing public uproar.
However, it was revealed in March 2024 that the TV host planned to make a comeback on television, debuting two fresh shows, one of which will incorporate aspects similar to those found in dating, much like his past role.
He had often declared, “The Bachelor is the most dramatic series out there,” he shared with Entertainment Tonight. Our aim is to make a dating show that genuinely lives up to such a claim, and we believe this one will be the most dramatically intense yet – a promise we stand by.
