Matt Smith in first official look at new role in The Death of Bunny Munro

As a devoted fan of captivating drama series and a long-time admirer of Matt Smith’s acting prowess, I am absolutely thrilled about the upcoming Sky Atlantic release of “The Death of Bunny Munro.” Having followed Smith’s career since his Doctor Who days, it’s fascinating to see him tackle such a complex character as Bunny Munro.

As a cinephile, I’m thrilled to share that the first glimpse has emerged for the Sky series titled “The Death of Bunny Munro.” Guess who’s starring? None other than the brilliant Matt Smith, known for his captivating roles in ‘Doctor Who’ and ‘House of the Dragons.’ Can’t wait to see him bring this character to life!

In the picture, Smith’s persona, Bunny Munro, is depicted lounging in a laundry room without a shirt, casually holding a cigarette between his lips. He shares seating with young performer Rafael Mathé, who embodies Bunny’s son, Bunny Junior.

The six-part series originates from the author of Channel 4’s Somewhere Boy, Pete Jackson, and is helmed by Isabella Eklöf, known for her work in Industry. It draws inspiration from Nick Cave’s eponymous novel, with Cave serving as an executive producer on the production.

In this production, Smith and Mathé are joined by Sarah Greene, Johann Myers, Robert Glenister, Alice Feetham, David Threlfall, Lindsay Duncan, and Elizabeth Berrington.

After his wife Libby takes her own life, the promiscuous, traveling cosmetics salesman Bunny Munro – who openly admits to having a sex addiction – is left to care for their young son. With minimal experience in parenting, he struggles to navigate this new role.

Accompanied by nine-year-old Bunny Junior, he sets off on a grand and progressively chaotic journey through southern England. Both of them grapple with their sorrow, expressing it in unique and distinct manners.

While Bunny hops between sales pitches, attempting to charm every female encounter, Bunny Junior spends his time conversing with his mother’s spirit and avoiding the growing awareness that his father is not merely flawed, but entirely disorganized.

As Bunny sees his behavior becoming problematic, he recognizes the urgent need to act, so as to free his son from his antiquated ideas about masculinity.

The Tale of Bunny Munro offers a raw warning yet also presents a heartfelt depiction of a father-son relationship.

This year, Smith has appeared in the folk horror movie “Starve Acre” and also in the second season of “House of the Dragon.

Sky Atlantic and NOW are set to air ‘The Death of Bunny Munro’ in 2025. Get informed on the steps to subscribe to Sky TV to not miss it!
