Matthew Perry's Doctor Mark Chavez Enters Plea in Ketamine Death Case

As a devoted fan of Matthew Perry and his iconic role as Chandler Bing on Friends, this news hits me hard. The tragic demise of such a talented individual is heartbreaking, and it’s disheartening to know that his life was cut short due to the actions of unscrupulous individuals like Dr. Mark Chavez.

The physician, who was accused of being responsible for Matthew Perry’s passing, admitted guilt for his role in a plot to illegally distribute the anesthetic ketamine to the late “Friends” actor.

California doctor Dr. Mark Chavez admitted his guilt during a court appearance on October 2, as reported by NBC News. Although he has struck a deal with the prosecution, he could potentially spend up to ten years behind bars when sentenced on April 2, 2025, according to the details presented in court.

In light of his upcoming sentencing, the 54-year-old individual, who had previously handed over his passport, continues to be released on bail, and has consented not to practice medicine any longer, according to NBC News reports.

In the tragic events of October 2023, I lost a beloved figure – Perry – due to unforeseen circumstances. An unfortunate incident involving ketamine, as revealed by an autopsy report in December 2023, led to his accidental drowning in his hot tub. Among the five individuals now facing charges, one is Chavez, whose role in this heartbreaking incident remains under investigation.

A doctor was running a ketamine clinic and supplied ketamine lozenges to Dr. Salvador Plasencia, who later passed them on to Perry. Dr. Plasencia has pleaded not guilty to one charge of conspiring to distribute ketamine in relation to this case, as reported by NBC News.

In August, the Department of Justice asserted that Placensia supposedly communicated with Chavez via text messages to figure out how much money they could extort from the actor, who was public about his battles with addiction. At one point, it’s alleged that Plasencia wrote, “I wonder how much this individual will end up paying.

According to TopMob News’ confirmation from the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), both doctors have relinquished their ability to write prescriptions.

Placensia has entered a not guilty plea to one count of conspiracy to distribute ketamine.

As an over-the-moon admirer putting words to my feelings, let me share what I’d say if I were Chavez’s lawyer, Matthew Binninger: “I’m giving it my all to set things straight in this situation. I’m doing everything possible to collaborate, to aid in resolving this matter, and he’s deeply regretful.

The individuals being accused in relation to Perry’s death, besides Perry himself, are his assistant Kenneth Iwamasa, friend Erik Fleming, and Jasveen Sangha, a suspected drug dealer often referred to as the “ketamine queen.” While Kenneth Iwamasa and Erik Fleming have admitted guilt in ketamine-related offenses and now await sentencing, Jasveen Sangha denies these charges.
