However, it’s rather unusual for a streaming service to axe its very own original content, and that’s exactly what Max seems to be doing here.
What makes this decision even more perplexing is the fact that the show being pulled isn’t some obscure HBO production, but a fan favorite – a choice that has left many of us scratching our heads. As a fellow subscriber, I can only imagine the frustration and disappointment that we all share in this situation.
Initially scheduled to end on April 11 this month, the premiere date for the HBO original series has been moved to June 3 instead. In essence, Max subscribers now have extra time to enjoy The Leftovers, a supernatural drama created by Damon Lindelof and Tom Perotta. First airing in 2014, the show ran until 2017, encompassing three seasons with a total of 28 episodes.
On Rotten Tomatoes, The Leftovers has received ratings of 91 and 90 – these scores represent the opinions of critics and audiences respectively. This means that The Leftovers is highly praised by both critics and viewers, earning it the title of a critical success as well as a beloved series among fans. However, fans are displeased at the possibility that the show could end in June unless filming dates are extended once more.
