As a long-time fan of animated shows, especially those from Cartoon Network, the recent wave of removals from Warner Bros. Discovery’s Max streaming service has left me feeling like I’ve been hit by one of Ed, Edd n’ Eddy’s infamous edible concoctions.
The loss of classic series such as Teen Titans and its spin-off, Teen Titans Go! (Seasons 1-7), Green Lantern: The Animated Series, The Looney Tunes Show, Static Shock, Ed, Edd n’ Eddy, and The Grim Adventures of Billy & Mandy has left a gaping void in my animation-loving heart. These shows were not just entertainment, they were part of my childhood, a time when cartoons offered escapism and joy amidst the chaos of growing up.
The removal of Teen Titans Go!, in particular, is a shocker. With over 400 episodes under its belt, it’s hard to imagine a world without this staple of DC animation. I remember eagerly awaiting each new episode, laughing at the humor, and marveling at the clever storytelling. Now, fans like me will have to resort to other streaming services or wait for reruns on Cartoon Network.
On a lighter note, it feels like I’m living in an Ed, Edd n’ Eddy-esque world where everything is being taken away, one by one. But hey, at least I still have my remote control… until they decide to take that away too!
2023 started with Max streaming service bidding farewell to several popular new and classic animated titles from its platform. Over the past few years, Warner Bros. Discovery’s Max has undergone significant transformations since its launch, leading to substantial modifications in their TV and movie library. The animated content has been particularly impacted by these changes, with many titles being removed recently. This trend has continued into the new year, resulting in some fan favorites temporarily leaving the service, making it more challenging for viewers to access these shows.
Previously announced changes at Max revealed that some DC animated shows were to be taken off the platform by the end of 2024, with removals starting on January 1st. As we stepped into 2025, a few more prominent series have been removed, including fan favorites like the first seven seasons of Teen Titans Go!, the original Teen Titans series that preceded it, and timeless shows such as Ed, Edd n’ Eddy, The Grim Adventures of Billy & Mandy and others.
Max Removes More Animated Shows From Streaming Service
2024’s last week and the first day of 2025 will see the removal of the recently aired animated series from Max. Here are the shows being taken off:
1. “Super Hero Squad: Mischief in Metropolis”
2. “The Little Mermaid: New Waves”
3. “Zoo-Bot Adventures”
4. “Space Pups: Galactic Guardians”
- Teen Titans
- Teen Titans Go! (Seasons 1-7)
- Ed, Edd n’ Eddy
- The Grim Adventures of Billy & Mandy
- Green Lantern: The Animated Series
- The Looney Tunes Show
- Static Shock
Some deletions are more unexpected than others, including the removal of beloved Cartoon Network shows like “Ed, Edd n’ Eddy” and “The Grim Adventures of Billy & Mandy.” Over the past few years, we’ve seen similar removals. These cherished Cartoon Network titles have moved to other streaming services such as Hulu and Prime Video, but are not available on their original parent company’s platform anymore.
2021 has been a challenging period for the Cartoon Network brand, with the closure of their original website this summer being one of several factors contributing to this. Now, content previously found on the network is being moved to Max, and along with this shift, some fan-favorite series like “Craig of the Creek” are ending this month. This has sparked speculation among fans about what the future may hold for the once vibrant Cartoon Network.
Teen Titans Go! Is The Biggest Surprise
However, what’s truly unexpected in this situation is the decision to significantly reduce the availability of “Teen Titans Go!” on the streaming platform. This show has been a significant success for Warner Bros. Discovery as a whole, and it’s hard to imagine another animated series with a larger influence. Given DC Studios’ potential shift in approach towards animated content, “Teen Titans Go!” remains a cornerstone, having recently surpassed 400 episodes and dominating Cartoon Network with an extensive marathon to commemorate this significant milestone.
At present, it’s possible that Max is providing the latest installments of Teen Titans Go! (with Episode 400 added in the recent update), but this doesn’t compare to the complete collection of eight seasons it previously offered. Now, fans must look for episodes on other streaming platforms or be patient until it returns to Cartoon Network. However, as Max moves forward into 2025, changes may occur in their streaming library, as it tends to fluctuate throughout the remainder of the year.
