Mayfair Witches Adds 3 New Cast Members for Season 2

As a seasoned gamer of both the literary and television worlds, I am thrilled about the latest additions to Season 2 of Anne Rice’s Mayfair Witches! The casting announcements at San Diego Comic-Con have only fueled my anticipation for this supernatural series.

In simple terms, Anne Rice’s “Mayfair Witches” has expanded its Season 2 lineup. Through their official social media platforms for the Immortal Universe (including “Mayfair Witches” and “Interview With the Vampire”), AMC announced that Callan McAuliffe (“The Walking Dead”), Franka Potente (“Run Lola Run”), and Ian Pirie (“Halo”) have joined the cast of the show. The second season of “Mayfair Witches” is expected to air in 2025.

According to the latest announcement, Robbie McAuliffe is set to play Abel Mayfair, Carice van Houten (Potente) will portray Annamieke, and Pirie has been cast as Ian Mayfair in the upcoming season of “Mayfair Witches.” However, it remains undisclosed whether these characters are new for the series or adapted from Anne Rice’s novel, “The Witching Hour.” Thora Birch is also joining the cast as Gifford Mayfair, described as a self-deprecating tarot card reader and bohemian wannabe who frequently visits her lake house. Ted Levine will take on the role of Julien Mayfair, the father of Cortland, portrayed as a master manipulator with a sinister presence haunting the Mayfair family. Alyssa Jirrels has been cast as Moira Mayfair, Rowan Fielding’s cousin who is a mind reader and believes the family and Lasher are responsible for her sister Tessa’s death. Previously announced cast members include Ben Feldman as Sam “Lark” Larkin, Jack Huston as Lasher, Tongayi Chirisa as Ciprien Grieve, Harry Hamlin as Cortland Mayfair, and Alexandra Daddario as Rowan Fielding. The second season will also see the return of these characters.

What is Season 2 of Mayfair Witches About?

In the second season of “Mayfair Witches,” inspired by Anne Rice’s “Lives of the Mayfair Witches,” Rowan Mayfair (Daddario) finds herself on a journey after unknowingly giving birth to the demon Lasher (Jack Huston). She is torn between understanding if he is human or monster and using him for her healing purpose, but when a tragedy occurs, she must set aside her personal goals and fight to safeguard her family.

AMC is Developing a Third Immortal Universe Series

Alongside “Mayfair Witches” and “Interview With the Vampire,” AMC is additionally working on a potential third series within their Immortal Universe. This new series, being penned and produced by John Lee Hancock, will focus on the fictional group called the Talamasca. Known for its appearances in both “Mayfair Witches” and Rice’s novels, the Talamasca is an organization that investigates and keeps tabs on supernatural entities. Their members serve as agents dedicated to monitoring such beings.

As a gamer, I can’t help but feel pumped about the overwhelmingly positive responses to “Interview” and “Mayfair”. This is a fantastic indication of what lies ahead in the expansive universe inspired by Anne Rice’s works. I, along with my team at AMC Networks, are thrilled to be in the thick of developing the next chapter in this ever-growing franchise. The masterful John Lee Hancock will be penning and overseeing this project. One of the most captivating aspects of Rice’s works, The Talamasca, holds immense potential for a standalone series or even a crossover with other tales. Can’t wait to delve deeper into this fascinating world!
