McDonald & Dodds reveals first look at season 4 finale in new pics

As a devoted cinephile with a soft spot for British crime dramas, I am thrilled to share my anticipation for the final episode of McDonald & Dodds season 4. The latest images released have only heightened my excitement, as they hint at a chilling investigation that promises to keep me on the edge of my seat.

In the last episode of McDonald & Dodds’ fourth season, airing this coming Sunday, there are a series of mysterious deaths linked to weddings in Bath that leave detectives baffled.

Recently, new images have emerged depicting one of the weddings. Sadly, this joyous occasion ended in tragedy when the vicar was discovered dead in the vestry.

In the episode summary, it’s mentioned that McDonald is investigating Lotty, her father, and her sisters as potential suspects due to their strong connections with Vicar Morrison.

If McDonald and Dodds wish to uncover the truth about Mitchell’s fate, they might need to dig up hidden truths within his family.

However, just as she’s completing an arrest, another murder occurs – this time at a wedding, happening on the opposite side of the city, and it presents a completely distinct methodology.

At the peak moment of Florence Saunders’ wedding, this local bride unexpectedly collapsed, apparently poisoned. The investigative team needs to act swiftly to avoid widespread panic in Bath. Could it be that a serial killer is behind this, deliberately targeting weddings?

When the team’s resources are at their maximum use, ominous phone calls to the local radio station hint at further fatalities. An intriguing chase between McDonald, Dodds, and an unidentified adversary unfolds, testing both their limits and their bond.

In another image from the episode, viewers are introduced to the new character played by The Crown‘s Victoria Hamilton, Dora, who Jason Watkins and Tala Gouveia have teased that Dodds has a “dalliance” with.

Regarding Hamilton, Watkins shared: “I’ve had quite a bit of interaction with her. It’s an interesting shift… Dodds seems to have a soft spot for her. In fact, it appears he might be developing feelings, or it seems that’s the direction he’s going, which is quite unexpected given his past history in that area. There could be some intriguing developments with this character.”

An alternate representation offers a peek at Chief Supt Ormond portrayed by Claire Skinner and DC Lee played by Bhavik C Pankhania in the given episode.

McDonald & Dodds airs Sundays on ITV1. Stream on ITVX.
