James Gunn Teases The DCU Batman

In the latest DC Studios’ animated series titled “Creature Commandos,” aired on Max, Batman made a surprise guest appearance. This is his debut within James Gunn’s DC Universe. Here’s what he commented about this exciting unveiling:

In this universe, Batman is already present, much like when we go watch the Superman movie and find that Superman is already established among the citizens of Metropolis. According to Gunn, who scripted all seven episodes of Creature Commandos, there’s no need to retell the origin story again because it’s already set in place.

Originally, the episode featured more of Batman when it was initially presented to me. Gunn explained, “I kept saying, ‘I’m not prepared to fully commit to this yet, I’m not ready, I’m not ready.’ So I requested, ‘Let’s have more of a silhouette!’. It’s an effective method to imply that Batman truly exists.

Here’s talking about DCU’s Batman… Let me tell you, I’ve always had a soft spot for Batman. Ever since I was young, he’s been one of my all-time favorites. I’ve openly admitted this before when I was working at Marvel, saying ‘Batman is my favorite character.’ We have some fantastic plans for him, and he’s undeniably the most beloved superhero globally. I’m thrilled to see more of him alongside Superman.” – Gunn shared.

It seems that the director, Andy Muschietti (known for IT and The Flash), has shared that DC Studios has temporarily halted its work on the Batman movie titled The Brave and the Bold. This means we might need a little more patience before witnessing Batman again in live-action.
