McFarlane Batman: The Dark Knight Cowl 1:1 Replica Is On Sale Now

Whenever you make purchases through our links, Comicbook might receive an affiliate commission. The replicas of McFarlane Toys / DC Direct’s Batman cowls have been highly popular in both 1:1 and 1:3 scale versions, and we expect the trend to continue with the upcoming release. On January 9th, a full-sized replica of Christian Bale’s cowl from Christopher Nolan’s 2008 film The Dark Knight will be launched, and all necessary information for pre-ordering one can be found here.

UPDATE: Pre-orders for the cowl are now available on Amazon at a price of $99.99, with a release date scheduled for July. Specialty retailers like Entertainment Earth are selling it for $149.99 or more, which seems unusual.

On January 9th at 9am PT / 12pm ET, you’ll find the lifelike version of The Dark Knight Batman cowl available here at Entertainment Earth and on Amazon. Previously, they have released full-scale replicas modeled after Michael Keaton’s Batman from the 1989 film and Adam West’s Batman from the 1966 TV series, both priced at $99.99. Given this pattern, it is likely that the Dark Knight version will also cost the same amount. Take a peek at its design in the image below.

James Gunn Teases The DCU Batman

In the latest DC Studios’ animated series “Creature Commandos,” on Max, I, Batman, made a surprising cameo. This is my debut in James Gunn’s DC Universe. Here’s what I have to share about this unexpected appearance:

In the universe where this story takes place, Batman is already a character, similar to how in the Superman movie, we find that Superman is already established and recognized among the citizens of Metropolis. According to Gunn, who penned all seven episodes of Creature Commandos, there’s no need to re-tell his origin story because it’s already been done.

Initially, when they presented the episode to me, it showed a lot more of Batman. Gunn explained further, “I kept saying, ‘I’m not prepared to fully involve him yet, I’m not ready, I’m not ready.’ So, I requested more of the silhouette. It’s an effective method to imply that Batman does indeed exist.

This is DCU’s Batman, and let me tell you, I’ve had a long-standing affection for this caped crusader. He’s been one of my favorite characters since I was a child. I’ve openly expressed my admiration for him even during my time at Marvel. Now that we’re working with him, I’m confident we’ll create something fantastic. Batman is the most popular superhero globally, and I can hardly contain my excitement to show more of him, alongside Superman.

It seems that the director, Andy Muschietti (known for IT and The Flash), shared some news about DC Studios; they’ve temporarily halted work on the Batman movie titled The Brave and the Bold. This means we might have to be patient a bit longer before witnessing Batman back in live-action again.
