McFarlane Toys is all set to unveil its third series of 1:10 and 1:6 scale Marvel action figures, featuring characters such as Cyclops from X-Men, Spider-Man from Secret Wars, Thor from Mighty Thor, among others. For those new to this collection, these figurines/statues are modeled after famous Marvel comic book covers by artists like Jim Lee, Steve Ditko, John Romita Jr., Rob Liefeld, and Todd McFarlane himself. Mark your calendars for January 15th at 9am PT / 12pm ET as these new heroes arrive at Entertainment Earth and Amazon. Last May, Todd McFarlane, a renowned comic creator, president of Image Comics, and CEO of Mcfarlane Toys, shared exclusive insights with Comicbook regarding the upcoming launch of this new product line. Here’s what McFarlane expressed to ComicBook about the future plans for this collection:
McFarlane mentioned, “You understand, don’t you? I have a special affection for some friends I grew up with. In the initial series, I want to show my appreciation to Jim Lee and Rob Liefeld. During that period when we emerged, each of us made unique contributions that stood out.
In the future, I plan to acknowledge the individuals who significantly influenced me, George Perez and John Byrne. However, it’s important to note that there’s a new generation of fans whose mentors might not be these two. They admire the artists they see today, whether in interior art or cover art. So, I will consider their preferences when selecting who to honor, ensuring I cater to their tastes.
