MCU Hero’s Son Dies, Triggering Massive Marvel Cosmic War Event!

A character who briefly appeared among Marvel’s cinematic heroes has tragically passed away, marking the start of a grand cosmic event called “Imperial“. This four-issue series is penned by Jonathan Hickman and illustrated by Iban Coello and Federico Vicentini. The main objective of “Imperial” is to establish a new era for cosmic titles, as Hickman aims to disrupt the established order much like his work on the X-Men. Key characters such as Hulk, Black Panther, Star-Lord, and Nova will be at the forefront of “Imperial“, but a beloved hero meets an untimely death before any battles commence.

Exclusive preview: The first issue of “Imperial” by Jonathan Hickman, Federico Vicentini, Iban Coello, and Federico Blee is unveiled in ComicBook! This sneak peek initiates with a spacecraft moving through Gateway 231B, traveling from the Milky Way to Andromeda. On board the vessel, Amadeus Cho and Jennifer Walters are found pondering over why they were summoned from their distant home, a distance of million light-years. An unexpected demise has occurred, and their attendance at the funeral is compulsory.

Jennifer expresses a dislike for space, but Amadeus has found one constant: when the colossal figure, in this case, Hulk, instructs you to do something, it’s usually wise to avoid asking too many questions. The towering individual is actually Bruce Banner, who happens to be seated beside them. He explains that he requested Amadeus and Jennifer to accompany him because they are family, as his son, Hiro-Kala, has sadly passed away.

As a passionate cinephile, I find myself accompanying Bruce Banner, Amadeus Cho, and Jennifer Walters to the ship’s detention area, where we’re about to don the fitting attire for a solemn ceremony. Our destination: Sakaar en Nevo, a successor to the original Sakaar – a planet that mirrors its predecessor as a battleground for the strong and resilient.

Upon landing, we witness our heroes transforming into their Hulk forms. Amadeus Cho assumes the mighty Brawn, while Jennifer Walters steps into her powerful alter ego, She-Hulk. The anticipation is palpable as we prepare to face the challenges that await us on this war-torn planet.

Instead of expressing grief over their deceased monarch, the populace is engaging in riots on the streets. Bravus consults a technological device to find information about the funeral proceedings of the late regent. This involves a formal ceremony followed by a period of mourning, after which the Dominion Games for leadership commence. However, these games are disrupted by a gladiator who starts criticizing Hiro-Kala, claiming he was not a genuine warrior king. The consul tries to defend Hiro-Kala, but ends up meeting an untimely demise. The gladiator then turns his attention towards the Hulks and inquires if they have any comments. Hulk chooses action over words, promptly flinging the gladiator out of the city, causing him to crash onto the ground outside.

In the finale of “She-Hulk: Attorney at Law,” viewers were introduced to Hiro-Kala, the twin brother of Skaar, who is Hulk’s brother. During a barbecue hosted by Jennifer Walters and her family, Hulk made an appearance with his new companion. The series set up a storyline involving Hulk’s journey into space to reach Sakaar, sparking speculation about potential projects like “Planet Hulk” or “World War Hulk.” However, due to Disney reducing the number of Marvel Studios films and shows released annually, updates on these possible projects have slowed.

In my perspective, it’s no secret that the assassination of galactic leaders often sparks Imperial disputes, and it seems Hiro-Kala might be the first casualty in this case. The cosmos is now a battleground, with empires pointing fingers at each other, ready to wage war. Remarkably, even Charles Xavier and Lilandra’s daughter, Xandra, finds herself entangled within these Imperial politics. The climax of X-Manhunt sees Professor X and Lilandra venturing into space, on a mission to rescue their beloved child.

Additionally, five standalone stories will branch off from this event, with the initial pair being “Galactic Conflict: Black Panther” and “Galactic Conflict: She-Hulk”. In “Galactic Conflict: Black Panther”, Hulk is seen waging war against Black Panther and Wakanda’s Intergalactic Empire, while in “Galactic Conflict: She-Hulk”, we follow Jennifer Walters (Bruce Banner’s cousin) on New Sakaar as she strives to maintain peace.

In the description for Imperial #1, it’s stated that Jonathan Hickman, Federico Vicentini, and Iban Coello are embarking on a cosmic journey! This epic Marvel event is titled Imperial. It’s an engaging story filled with intrigue, puzzles, and conflict, set during the emergence of a new galactic order in the Marvel Universe. Characters like Hulks, Black Panthers, Novas, Guardians, and Cosmic Royalty are part of this narrative. Don’t miss out on this summer’s hottest read!
