Before the debut of “The Fantastic Four: First Steps”, Marvel may have unveiled an unknown ability of Johnny Storm’s as the Human Torch. Actor Joseph Quinn will make his entrance in the Marvel Cinematic Universe as Johnny Storm in “First Steps”, joining Pedro Pascal, Vanessa Kirby, and Ebon Moss-Bachrach who play other members of the superhero team named after the title. Although it’s common knowledge that Johnny possesses powers such as fire creation and flight, Marvel recently disclosed that the Human Torch can also absorb explosive energy into his body, which could bring significant changes to the MCU.

Marvel Studios unveiled additional insights about the Fantastic Four members through its partnership with drink company Snapple. As depicted in the character breakdown for Johnny Storm’s Human Torch (provided by Fantastic Four Updates), Marvel hinted that “Johnny can ignite into flames, soar high into the heavens for thousands of feet, and assimilate explosions within his body, all effortlessly.” It seems that live-action portrayals of the Human Torch have not emphasized his energy absorption abilities previously. This new focus on this power in the MCU could offer a significant advantage during the battle against Galactus.

Johnnie Firestorm, the youngest and most beloved character within the Fantastic Four team, showcases a charming personality that draws many in. Fortunately, Marvel Studios appears to be addressing and eliminating some of his questionable traits. Not only is he human, but Johnnie Firestorm also exhibits an extraordinary level of physical versatility and power among the Fantastic Four. He possesses the unique ability to control and shape fire and heat as desired, and can even absorb explosions – making him a significant force indeed.

In the storyline titled “The Fantastic Four: First Steps“, Marvel’s original superhero team faces off against Shalla-Bal’s Silver Surfer (portrayed by Julia Garner) and Galactus, the cosmic entity who feeds on planets (voiced by Ralph Ineson). This formidable duo poses a catastrophic threat to the Earth of “First Steps“, potentially causing one explosion after another, possibly even leading to the planet’s destruction. However, it is revealed that Johnny Storm can absorb explosions into his body, which might offer the Fantastic Four a chance to defeat Galactus and his herald. This unique ability allows him not only to protect himself but also others, enduring the damage instead of inflicting it upon them.

After receiving questionable portrayals in 2005’s Fantastic Four, its sequel in 2007 titled Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer, and the 2015 reboot of Fantastic Four, it’s thrilling to learn that Johnny Storm will now be part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) in The Fantastic Four: First Steps. With Reed Richards as Mister Fantastic, Sue Storm as Invisible Woman, and Ben Grimm as Thing, Johnny is set to demonstrate powers never before seen on screen. This could potentially allow him to prevent the world from destruction by Galactus and the Silver Surfer, while also possibly altering the balance of power within the entire MCU.
