Tonight marks the beginning of its 15th season: Paul Hollywood, Prue Leith, Noel Fielding, and Alison Hammond will once again grace our screens, overseeing twelve new contestants as they face weekly baking challenges that test their skills to the limit.
For the upcoming ten weeks, the bakers will participate in different Showstopper, Technical, and Signature contests, all aiming to earn the title of Star Baker.
One of those bakers is John, whose love for baking began when he learned alongside his nan growing up.

John, aged thirty-seven, hails from the West Midlands region and serves as a directorate support manager. His professional journey has seen him work as both a hairstylist and an estate agent. However, it wasn’t until he joined the healthcare sector with the National Health Service (NHS) that he discovered his true vocation.
Due to his demanding work schedule, once he’s done for the day, John typically unwinds at home with his cavapoo, named Stanley. However, on weekends, they both enjoy exploring the outdoors for extended strolls in the countryside.
Initially, John picked up baking from his grandmother, creating delightful fairy cakes and pies, a tradition he continues today as a tribute to her memory. Moreover, he uses this skill not only for himself but also to educate his two impressionable nephews in the art she passed on to him.
He takes pleasure in creating unique spins on traditional pastries, incorporating herbs and various flavors to add an unexpected touch to his desserts.
Why did John sign up for The Great British Bake Off 2024?
As a passionate cinephile, it’s no secret that I’ve harbored a lifelong aspiration to grace the set of Bake Off ever since its debut. Stepping into that iconic tent feels like a long-cherished dream realized.
Upon receiving the phone call informing him that he’d appear in the series, John was convalescing at his residence following a surgery.
He mentioned that he was unsure whether what he experienced was a drug-induced hallucination from the painkillers, or if the phone call was truly happening,” he explained.
The Great British Bake starts on Tuesday 24th September at 9pm on Channel 4.
