So, who is Lorna McNee? Read on to learn more about the Great British Menu judge.

Who is Lorna McNee?

As a passionate food enthusiast, I must express my admiration for Lorna McNee – a culinary mastermind who graced the stage of Great British Menu in 2019 and emerged victorious. She is not just another chef; she is one of the UK’s most esteemed and honored chefs, a testament to her exceptional talent and unwavering dedication to the art of cooking.

She will team up with Ed Gamble and Tom Kerridge, moving forward with their search for top-tier British culinary delights. Nisha Katona, previously a judge for three years, has handed over her role to her.

Initially, Lorna honed her skills at Gordon Ramsay’s Claridge’s for a fortnight. Later, she had an internship at Restaurant Andrew Fairlie located within the Gleneagles Hotel, where she assumed the role of sous-chef.

2020 marked the year Lorna took over as the executive chef at Cail Bruich in Glasgow. Remarkably, she received a Michelin Star the subsequent year, making her the pioneer to do so for a Glasgow restaurant in 18 years.

What has Lorna McNee said about joining Great British Menu?

Regarding her new position, Lorna expressed that it was both a complete shock and a joy to become part of the judging team for this year’s show.

She mentioned that winning Great British Menu in 2018 significantly boosted her culinary career, playing a role in her appointment as Chef Director at Cail Bruich. Consequently, she understands the immense value this competition holds for the chefs of Britain.

As a cinema enthusiast, it came as a complete shock yet a joy to be invited among this year’s panel of judges. The opportunity to contribute in selecting the finalists for this year’s gala event is a pleasure I am relishing wholeheartedly.

I’ve been made to feel incredibly welcomed by Tom, Ed, and Andi, and I’m thrilled to encounter some awe-inspiring guest judges every week. Each of these esteemed individuals has been invited to aid us in selecting dishes that embody their respective regions, aligning with this year’s theme of UK Heroes.
