2025’s Eurovision competition is drawing near, as this year’s event will be hosted in the beautiful city of Basel, Switzerland.

thirty-seven nations are competing, all aiming to captivate both the judges and spectators, and, as usual, certain contestants have emerged as early frontrunners for the top prize.

Since 2007, Georgia has taken part in the singing contest 16 times, but has not yet secured a victory. It appears that this year may also not bring a win for them as they are currently placed 36th in the betting odds, with only Croatia ranked lower.

As a seasoned film critic, I must acknowledge that Mariam Shengelia has undeniably etched her name into the annals of the Georgian music scene. Her prowess in vocal performances, particularly during competitions, is nothing short of remarkable.

Mariam hasn’t only tried but also previously aimed to participate in Eurovision; back in 2019, she even entered a contest to represent her country the following year. Regrettably, she didn’t win that competition, but she was still chosen to be one of Tornike Kipiani’s backing vocalists for the winning performance.

However, this never come to fruition as Eurovision 2020 was cancelled due to the pandemic.

This year, Mariam took part in the Georgian adaptation of Dancing with the Stars and finished as the runner-up.
