Meet the Adorable New Train-Themed Falinks in Pokemon Go Fest 2025!

Over time, Pokemon Go has unveiled numerous costumed Pokemon. These unique Pokemon are usually debuted for special events or collaborations with other Pokemon media, such as a new Nintendo Switch game or film. Some have been more elaborate or witty than others, and it seems Niantic might have outdone themselves with the latest one. To mark Pokemon Go Fest 2025, the developers will be introducing some exciting changes. It’s no surprise that Pikachu is getting a new look, complete with a top hat, monocle, and six color variations. Adorable as it may be, it doesn’t hold a candle to what else they have planned.

In addition to Pikachu this year, Pokemon Go will introduce a costumed version of Falinks, which marks the first time Falinks has had a costume variant. Niantic’s developers have carefully planned this release until they found the perfect concept. During Pokemon Go Fest 2025, players will have the opportunity to obtain a train-themed Falinks. For those who are not familiar with Falinks, it is a Fighting-type Pokemon that moves in unison as a troop, resembling a marching formation. The front of Falinks, known as the “brass,” will be designed to look like a locomotive, while the other members of the troop will be dressed as individual boxcars.

The innovative design for Falinks in Pokemon Go truly stands out. Unlike most Pokemon costumes which typically consist of hats or crowns, this new design offers something unique and memorable. While some previous costume designs were cool, others tended to blend together. However, when Niantic creates an entirely new outfit for a Pokemon, it often results in something extraordinary. For instance, the Pikachu costume modeled after Mimikyu is a brilliant example of creativity layered upon creativity since Mimikyu itself is a Pokemon that disguises itself as Pikachu. It’s delightful to see the creators of Pokemon Go push the boundaries of their imagination, as it leads to enjoyable and entertaining results.

One significant disadvantage of using costumed Pokemon is they cannot currently be moved to Pokemon Home. It’d be fantastic to employ these Pokemon in main series games such as Pokemon Scarlet and Violet, or the upcoming Pokemon Champions. Regrettably, at this point, these Pokemon are exclusive to Pokemon Go. Hopefully, this limitation may be lifted in the future, but for now, any costumed Pokemon caught in the mobile game must remain within it.

Currently, Niantic has not disclosed exactly how trainers can obtain Choo Choo Falinks; they’ve merely mentioned that it will be available during Pokemon Go Fest 2025. It’s speculated that it might appear randomly in the wild or possibly during Raids. With the initial in-person events scheduled for late May, followed by a global event next month, we can expect more information about this soon.
