Meet the New Designer Taking Over Love It or List It After Hilary Farr’s Departure!

Love It or List It is getting a makeover.

Approximately a year following Hilary Farr’s departure from the popular home renovation show after 19 seasons, HGTV has chosen Page Turner, another HGTV star, as her replacement.

As I eagerly count down the days to the new season of my beloved reality series, I can hardly contain my excitement! In this upcoming 20th season, I’ll find myself going head-to-head with returning cohost and real estate guru, David Visentin. Together, we’ll lend a helping hand to homeowners who are tired of their current properties and ready for a change. Can’t wait to see the magic unfold!

Each episode showcases Page transforming their uninspiring residence into their ideal dream home, while David looks for a new dwelling that meets all their requirements. Notably, the network has scheduled the next season to air in summer 2025.

In a natural, easy-to-understand manner, the sentence could be rephrased as follows: Given that Page, known for renovating and decorating numerous homes in various hit HGTV shows, seems exceptionally suited to step into Farr’s role.

Fans of HGTV initially adored Page Turner on shows like ‘Flip or Flop Nashville’, ‘Fix My Flip’, and later discovered her competitive spirit over two seasons of ‘Rock the Block’. As stated by Loren Ruch, Head of Content at HGTV, “Loren Ruch”, she has a rich background in real estate and design, which will be an incredible asset as she dives into this well-known real estate competition. We’re eagerly anticipating her attempts to challenge David and give him a tough fight.

In December 2023, Farr announced her upcoming departure, expressing heartfelt gratitude towards fans and Visentin for the remarkable 12 years they’ve shared together in a touching goodbye message.

The designer expressed his gratitude towards the network for their backing and his devoted fans, stating this in a released statement. He further mentioned that David and he will always be friends, with David continuing to be just as wonderfully exasperating and amusing as before.

In simpler terms, “Far and away, ‘Love It or List It’ has left an indelible mark on countless lives, including my own. Now, I’m ready to seize fresh opportunities that are knocking at my door. If this is the legacy I leave behind, it’s a remarkable one.

Visentin felt incredibly thankful for the decade he spent collaborating with Farr on various projects.

Working alongside Hilary was an exhilarating experience I won’t soon forget,” he shared with fans. “I hope to brush past the pile of ‘love it’s’, but she is undeniably gifted. Despite our competitive dynamic on the show, we quickly formed a bond and have accumulated numerous memories, both on and off set. I eagerly anticipate maintaining this friendship and wish her nothing but success in all her future endeavors.

For the time being, as we eagerly await the show’s return this summer, fans have the opportunity to catch up on previous seasons of “Love It or List It” whenever they wish, on both MAX and discovery+ streaming platforms.

In the meantime, keep reading to see other TV stars who left their hit shows.

David Duchovny, best known for his role as Special Agent Fox Mulder in The X-Files, decided to part ways with the show following its seventh season due to certain contractual issues. However, he made appearances in episodes of the eighth season and only one from the ninth and final. In the seventh season finale, Mulder was abducted, then returned to Earth, subjected to experiments, and eventually went into hiding. To compensate for his absence, new FBI agents portrayed by Robert Patrick and Annabeth Gish were introduced. David Duchovny reprised his role in both revival seasons that aired on Fox.

In an unusual turn of events, ABC decided to pull the plug on their revived sitcom “Roseanne” following a controversial tweet from Roseanne Barr. However, the story didn’t quite end there. After canceling the show, ABC introduced a spin-off titled “The Conners,” which is essentially a continuation of “Roseanne” without Barr. She won’t be financially or creatively involved in the new series. In “The Conners,” the character Roseanne Conner was written off by depicting her death due to an opioid overdose.

At the close of season seven, Steve Carell’s character Michael Scott from Dunder Miflin’s Scranton branch bid farewell as he moved away with his partner Holly (played by Amy Ryan) to assist her ailing parents. The show, The Office, continued for two more seasons, and Carell made a comeback in the season nine finale, which also served as the series finale. To compensate for his departure, The Office introduced new characters such as James Spader’s Robert California.

In the fantasy series ABC aired, Jennifer Morrison, Josh Dallas, and Ginnifer Goodwin – key members of the cast – left before the seventh and last season, which functioned as a reboot for the show. However, these departed main characters made their comeback on the show prior to its final episode.

Michael J. Fox initially played a significant role in the political comedy “Spin City” during its first four seasons, but he had to leave following his announcement of having Parkinson’s disease. Before his departure, the show brought in Heather Locklear as Caitlin. Later, Charlie Sheen joined the cast in the role of the new deputy mayor after Fox left. However, Fox made a comeback for several episodes during the sixth and last season of the series.

The dramatic fallout during Charlie Sheen’s public breakdown on the popular CBS sitcom “Two and a Half Men” led to his dismissal from the show. Ashton Kutcher stepped into the role, while the character of Charlie Harper was initially written off as dead, but then mysteriously brought back to life…until the series finale when he met his final demise.

In an unusual move, but not entirely unexpected for its last season, Scrubs made some changes. The ninth and concluding season brought a new set of characters onto the scene and moved the setting from a hospital to a medical school. Notably, Donald Faison and John C. McGinley continued to star, while Zach Braff and Sarah Chalke made occasional appearances.

Following the cancellation of Nashville by ABC and its subsequent revival by CMT, an unexpected turn of events unfolded: the prime-time country music drama abruptly wrote off Rayna Jaymes, a central character portrayed by Connie Britton, in season five. With her departure, the show concluded its run after season six. Later on, Britton made a return for the series finale, appearing as part of a flashback-dream sequence and for the ensemble’s final musical performance.

Clayne Crawford got let go from Fox’s reboot of the popular movie series due to heated arguments and disagreements with co-star Damon Wayans on set. His character, Riggs, was fatally shot in the finale of season 2 and then died at the start of season 3. Fox subsequently brought Seann William Scott onto the cast for season 3. At this point, Wayans declared his plans to depart from the show after completing its third season.

During the break between seasons 12 and 13, Christopher Meloni decided to step down from his role as Detective Stabler on the show. In the final episode of season 12, Stabler was embroiled in a gunfight in the squad room, and when season 13 began, it was explained to Mariska Hargitay’s character Benson that her long-time partner had retired. To fill the vacancies left by Meloni, new detectives were introduced, portrayed by Kelli Giddish and Danny Pino.

Over the course of its 15 seasons, the medical drama known as ER underwent a significant cast change from its early days. The original lead characters started to depart at different points. For instance, Sherry Stringfield left in season three, George Clooney followed suit in season five, and Julianna Margulies exited in season six. The character played by Anthony Edwards, who was one of the main figures on the show, left in season eight when his character succumbed to a brain tumor. Interestingly, he reappeared in a flashback episode during the final season. Noah Wyle, initially a supporting actor, took over as a lead after Edwards’ departure, but he ultimately decided to leave after season 11. However, he made appearances in seasons 12 and returned for the finale.

Nina Dobrev portrayed multiple characters throughout the six seasons of The CW drama, TVD. One of her characters, Elena, shared a life connection with another character that led to her being placed in a coma. However, Elena reappeared in season eight for the series finale, and she found a happy ending with Damon (Ian Somerhalder).
