With temperatures dropping and snowflakes appearing in various parts of the UK, the arrival of Winterwatch on BBC Two for its 13th season feels particularly fitting and timely.
In the latest installment, Chris Packham, Michaela Strachan, and Iolo Williams are back at the helm, starting off their adventures from the RSPB Arne Reserve nestled on the Isle of Purbeck in Dorset.
Showcasing knowledgeable perspectives, intimate experiences, and awe-inspiring instances, the initial episode delves into life “ranging from the busy waterway to the timeless moorland,” providing glimpses “of the robust inhabitants who live within this varied environment.

Chris Packham
Chris Packham serves as a television host and nature expert, most notably for his work on the BBC’s Springwatch program. Since 2009, he has been a key member of the presenting crews for the BBC Two show and its offshoots, Autumnwatch and Winterwatch.
Apart from that, he has been a guest on Celebrity Mastermind, participated in Blue Planet Live and Animal Genius, created his own documentary titled Chris Packham: My Journey with Asperger’s, and hosted CBBC’s The Wild and Wonderful Show from 1986 to 1995.
Michaela Strachan
In the 1980s, television personality and vocalist Michaela Strachan gained prominence by presenting shows like Good Morning Britain, Wide Awake Club, and Boogie Box. Later, she collaborated with Chris Packham on The Really Wild Show.
As a passionate moviegoer might put it, I’ve had the privilege of being a frequent contributor to Countryfile in the past, and have graced the screens with my presence for shows like Digging for Treasure: Tonight, Extreme Conservation, Orangutan Diary, and both Springwatch and its spin-offs Autumnwatch and Winterwatch.
In the past, I dabbled in the world of music, stepping into the limelight with two chart-topping releases. These were “HAPPY Radio” from 1989 and “Take Good Care of My Heart” in 1990.
She is currently appearing as a contestant on Dancing on Ice and recently topped the leaderboard.
Iolo Williams
Welsh naturalist and television personality Iolo Williams is widely recognized for hosting several nature shows on BBC, such as Iolo’s Pembrokeshire, Iolo: A Wild Life, Iolo’s Snowdonia, and Iolo’s Great Welsh Parks.
Apart from that, he additionally presents programs in Welsh on S4C, and has been a part of Springwatch since 2010. In the year 2019, he became one of the presenters for Winterwatch.
