As a die-hard fan, I’m absolutely thrilled to share that after years of waiting, the finest animated adaptation of “Mega Man” is finally gracing screens overseas! The 1994 U.S. animated series, long overdue for a comeback in Japan, has finally arrived on streaming platforms.
It’s an incredible era for fans of ’90s and early 2000s television as beloved shows are being revived, re-released, and transformed in innovative ways. Now it’s “Mega Man”‘s turn to shine, as the original animated series that ignited our passion for Capcom’s Blue Bomber is finally getting its international streaming debut. This is a dream come true for us nostalgic fans!
Similar to numerous other successful game franchises, Mega Man transitioned from video games into animation, courtesy of Ruby-Spears Productions. Originally titled “Rock Man USA” in Japan, this animated series was initially exclusive to the United States. However, it’s now been announced that this classic animated series is coming to Japan, making its debut on streaming platforms such as Prime Video and others, complete with Japanese subtitles. Take a look at the official trailer for the release below:
Starting today, the anime “Rockman USA” that was screened in America back in 1994 will begin broadcasting with Japanese subtitles for the first time. Don’t miss Season 1 available on various streaming platforms! You might not know about this Rockman yet, but here he is!

What Is Mega Man USA?
First airing on TV in 1994, the animated series Mega Man, initially produced by Ruby-Spears Productions and Ashi Productions, ran for a total of 27 episodes across two seasons. This adaptation of the well-known Capcom video game franchise offered a fresh perspective to American audiences, as it marked the first time Mega Man appeared in a different form on screen. Ian James Corlett voiced both Mega Man and his robotic pet Rush throughout the series, battling Dr. Wily’s Robot Masters over the course of the two seasons.
The initial animated adaptation of the popular video game, Mega Man, was the original screen portrayal of the character, and it wasn’t until Mega Man NT Warrior that a full anime series was produced for the franchise – which later aligned with the release of Mega Man Battle Network games. While subsequent series may hold more sentimental value among Mega Man fans now, this classic animated show deserves recognition for its pioneering role in the franchise’s history.
What’s Happening With Mega Man Now?
Regrettably, the Mega Man franchise is experiencing a lull right now. Capcom appears to be focusing on other projects, which means no new games or adaptations for Mega Man are currently in production. There was a brief resurgence during the Secret Level streaming series with Prime Video (with Season 2 in development), where Mega Man made an appearance alongside several other game adaptations in a new anthology series. However, it’s been quite some time since Mega Man starred in his own animated story.
With Mega Man’s original animated series set to appear on numerous Japanese streaming platforms, it opens up the possibility for a significant resurgence of the franchise in the future years. Although Mega Man may not be as culturally relevant as he was during the 1990s and 2000s, the revival of animated shows like this suggests that there remains strong enthusiasm for the Blue Bomber even after all these years.
