Meghan Markle Shares Heartfelt Gratitude for Harry and Family

Meghan Markle has a royally sweet confession to make.

It turns out that the Duchess of Sussex has been prospering in her recent business endeavors, such as her brand As Ever and her new podcast, with significant support from her spouse, Prince Harry, and their children Archie, who is now 5 years old, and Lilibet, aged 3.

Meghan shared with TIME CEO Jessica Sibley during the TIME100 Summit on April 23 that she has never been happier. She expressed her joy in having a supportive partner who is also her husband, and children who are healthy and content. She never thought at this stage of life she would feel so happy and grateful, but she truly does.

Regardless of her hectic workload, the host of the “Confessions of a Female Founder” podcast always finds room in her day for her young children. In truth, she shared that Archie is about to lose his first tooth this week, and she’s striving to be there on time for the event.

In the course of her efforts on her podcast, emerging lifestyle business, and Netflix series titled “With Love, Meghan“, it’s only natural that Harry, aged 40, has consistently supported and admired her every step of the way.

He expressed his joy for his wife earlier this month to People, stating that he wholeheartedly approves of all her actions past and present. His pride in her is immense.

As a devoted admirer putting this into my own words, let me share: Amidst her tireless pursuit of various endeavors, Meghan never fails to find tranquility at their Montecito abode. For example, in an interview with Godmothers Substack back in March, she confided that she’s immersed herself wholeheartedly into the realm of children’s literature, alongside Archie and Lili.

She was thrilled by it, expressing her enthusiasm. Many children’s picture books provide perspectives and wisdom that I wish I had encountered during my own childhood.

The former star of “Suits” has made sure to carve out time for her personal interests, particularly those that add vibrancy to her existence.

She clarified, “I have a fondness for creating floral arrangements. It’s not an activity I was introduced to as a child, yet arranging flowers, no matter if they come from my garden, the local market, a flower shop, or even Trader Joe’s, is one of those small joys that I can easily lose myself in.

She stood there, meticulously adjusting each stem, occasionally shifting a tiny sweet pea from one spot to another, examining the vase from every angle, and darting back outside to snip more small flowers or gather fresh mint or rosemary blooms to enrich the bouquet with depth and allure – each moment of that is pure enchantment for her.

For Meghan, the experience is all-encompassing—a creative outlet and a connection to nature.

One thing that truly delights me is having my children step in to assist with preparations. This not only lightens the load, but also adds an extra touch of sweetness to the experience.

He shared with Sky News in 2015 that he didn’t believe such events could be rushed; they would occur when the time was right. When asked about the arrival of his niece Princess Charlotte potentially prompting him to start a family, he expressed a desire for children at that moment but acknowledged there were steps one needed to take first.

In the past, Meghan also made a special purchase thinking about her future daughter. She said, “I’ve always admired the Cartier French Tank watch. When I learned that Suits was renewed for our third season—a moment that felt significant at the time—I decided to treat myself and bought the two-tone version.” She further added that she had it engraved with “To M.M. From M.M.” and intends to pass it on to her daughter in the future.

Discussing fatherhood has always followed Prince Charles and the late Princess Diana’s younger son as closely as it did their marriage. In an interview with People magazine in May 2016, just prior to meeting his future spouse, he shared his conflicting feelings about starting a family: “There have been times when I think, ‘I’d love to have kids now,’ especially during our travels abroad… But there are also instances where I hesitate, thinking, ‘Maybe not right now, maybe not at all.’ There’s no urgency. At times, the thought of having children has even crossed my mind as a deterrent.

In 2017, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex announced their engagement and gave a joint interview for the first time. As expected, the subject of having children eventually came up. “Absolutely,” Prince Harry replied then, adding, “I believe we should take things one step at a time, and ideally, we’ll start our family soon.” Meghan was seen smiling beside him during the conversation.

Meghan expressed it as enchanting when she became a mother after Archie was born. She found it incredibly wonderful, and with the two finest men by her side, she’s incredibly content and happy.

After Archie was born in May 2019, Harry expressed his feelings as “It has been an unimaginably wonderful experience that I could never have imagined. The strength and courage of women never ceases to amaze me, but we are both extremely happy and grateful for all the love and support we’ve received from everyone. It’s truly amazing, so we wanted to share this joy with everyone.

During his speech at the National Youth Mentoring Summit in 2019, Harry pondered on the valuable lessons he’s gained since becoming a parent. He emphasized, “Today, I find myself struck by several points, primarily the impact of an unseen role model. There might be someone present who doesn’t realize they are being looked up to. For that person, you influence them to become kinder, better, more successful, and more influential.” Harry added, “As a father, I now have a clearer understanding that my son is always observing me, learning from my actions, perhaps even aspiring to walk in my footsteps one day.

In 2020, during a public appearance, Prince Harry expressed that our dear one is our utmost concern. Following this, our duties become the secondary focus, and we are simply working hard to contribute towards improving our world.

Harry and Meghan discovered a positive aspect during the coronavirus pandemic thanks to their son Archie. They expressed gratitude for being able to spend this time watching him grow, as they would have been traveling and working more if not for COVID-19 restrictions. This has allowed them to avoid missing out on many precious moments with their family, making it a valuable period of bonding together.

I shared, “We were present for all of Archie’s milestones – his initial steps, his first dash, even his early stumbles. We were part of every significant moment in his journey.

In May 2021, Meghan appeared seldom on television during Global Citizen’s VAX Live: The Concert to Reunite the World special. During this appearance, the former actress spoke candidly about her pregnancy and expressed her happiness about raising a daughter. At that time, she stated, “My spouse and I are eagerly anticipating welcoming a daughter. This joy we feel is shared by countless families worldwide.” When they consider their unborn child, they think of all the young women and girls around the globe who need to be empowered and supported to lead the way forward.

She commented, “Our current choices and actions shape their future leadership. Together, we are shaping a future that is prosperous, fair, and filled with kindness for everyone.

As an over-the-moon admirer, I can’t help but share my excitement about Meghan making a heartwarming cameo in her husband’s Apple TV+ series alongside Oprah, titled The Me You Can’t See. During her appearance, the radiant Californian subtly acknowledged her blossoming family with a shirt bearing the poignant message, “Raising the Future.

On June 4th, their little girl was born to the couple. They expressed their joy on their Archewell Foundation page by saying, “We were overjoyed with the arrival of our daughter Lili. She exceeds all our expectations, and we are eternally grateful for the love and blessings we’ve received from around the world. Thank you for your ongoing kindness and support during this extraordinary time in our family.

On June 8th, 2021, Meghan is set to debut her initial children’s book titled “The Bench“. This book offers a unique portrayal of fatherhood, as seen through a mother’s eyes. In a statement released in May, she shared that the story originated from a poem she penned for her spouse on Father’s Day, shortly after the birth of their son Archie. This poem later evolved into the book we will soon be reading.

In a letter dated October 2021, addressed to then-House Speaker Rep. Nancy Pelosi and Sen. Chuck Schumer, Meghan expressed her delight but also her feelings of being swamped when her daughter was born during the ongoing pandemic, which had disrupted normal operations in hospitals, schools, and other establishments.

In simpler terms, she expressed that unlike some parents, we were fortunate not to face the tough decision of either staying with our newborn during those crucial initial months or returning to work. We understood that we could bring our baby home and dedicate all our time and resources to our children and family during this significant period. This choice allowed us to avoid the difficult daily decisions about childcare, employment, and medical care that many others have to make, often due to limited options.

Meghan went on to say, “It’s unfair for any family to find themselves in situations where they must make such choices. No family should have to struggle between providing income and caring for their children (or a relative, or themselves, as a broader paid leave policy would encompass).

Today in April 2022, Harry admitted that combining his work-from-home schedule with his parenting responsibilities turned out to be quite challenging.

Archie interjects during our Zoom meetings more than anyone else,” he pointed out. “And he tends to do it frequently too, which is quite interesting.

Harry observed that his son was beginning to exhibit a mischievous wit reminiscent of his own. “I make sure to preserve that trait,” he commented. “I believe that a touch of impishness helps one maintain vitality.

Meghan admitted she was concerned for her—and everybody else’s—kids in the age of social media.

Being a mother holds the utmost significance in my life, second only to being Harry’s wife,” she expressed during her speech at the October 2023 Archewell Foundation Parents’ Summit: Mental Wellness in the Digital Age, which was part of Project Healthy Minds’ World Mental Health Day.

To express myself, I must confess, I consider ourselves incredibly lucky that our little ones are still quite tender-aged, meaning we have some time before this future unfolds. Yet, I can’t help but feel a shiver of apprehension as I watch the world evolve so rapidly around us. This impending change is like a looming horizon that will undoubtedly be within our sight soon.

As a parent, Meghan pointed out that time seems to stretch on endlessly in daily life (“the days are long”), yet it passes quickly (“the years are short”). In this context, she expressed concern about everyone’s exposure to the online world and social media, emphasizing the desire for a sense of security and safety among all.

During a visit to Lightway Academy in Abuja, Nigeria in May 2024, Meghan addressed a group of kindergarteners, saying, “Our little girl Lili is significantly smaller than any of you. She’s almost three years old now. A few weeks ago, she looked at me and said, ‘Mama, I can see myself in your eyes.’

In her explanation, Meghan said, “She spoke quite literally, but I interpreted her words differently. I felt, ‘Indeed, I recognize myself in you, and vice versa.’
