Just hours prior to the premiere event, Short once more dismissed rumors about their relationship status, confirming to The Hollywood Reporter in an interview on August 22nd that they are indeed close friends, not romantically involved.
At the Los Angeles premiere, the costars were seen laughing it up with Selena Gomez and Steven Martin, even striking poses for a few solo snapshots.
The buzz about a potential romantic relationship between them peaked on social media at the 2024 Golden Globes, with many viewers speculating and pointing out signs suggesting they were not just work associates.
Back then, it was known that Meryl Streep was single, as a representative for the actress confirmed in late 2023 that she and her estranged husband Don Gummer had been apart for six years.
