Virtuos, the developer who worked on Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater alongside Konami, has revealed plans to establish a new studio in Seoul, South Korea. This step aims to strengthen their existing collaborations within the country, having previously partnered with teams like PUBG developers and Stellar Blade, among others. Now, Virtuos intends to forge even closer ties with Korean game developers and publishers by setting up a permanent studio in the area.
Sean Yoon has been appointed as General Manager at Virtuos Seoul. In this role, he expressed that the new studio will enable the company to tackle the distinct challenges confronted by Korean studios more effectively due to its close location, fostering closer cooperation and joint development efforts. The aim is to introduce more South Korean games to a global audience, with Lies of P being a notable example from the burgeoning Korean game development scene.
Based out of Singapore, Virtuos is widely recognized for its work on ports and updates of previously released games. Over the past two decades, they have contributed significantly to projects such as The Outer Worlds, Cyberpunk 2077, Dead Island 2, Hogwarts Legacy, and numerous others.
In August, Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater, a joint venture between Konami, will be released for PS5. Last year, we got a sneak peek at the opening mission “Virtuous Mission” during a preview event. To summarize, the improvements made by Konami and Virtuos to this near-perfect title are spot on. Based on our experience with the Virtuous Mission, it appears that they are approaching the project in a thoughtful manner without altering the gameplay or story.
