In their latest announcement, Konami revealed that the game “Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater” will incorporate a multiplayer competitive mode named “Fox Hunt.
In today’s Konami Press Start event, the director of Fox Hunt, Yu Sahara, stated that this online battle mode is entirely unique. Despite sharing the same universe as Metal Gear Solid Delta, its gameplay is distinctly different. While some might associate a ‘Metal Gear Online’ battle mode with Fox Hunt due to the connection to Metal Gear, it should be noted that they are not the same game.
It’s fortunate that there have been calls to resurrect Metal Gear Online from players who remember playing it in the past. However, the gaming landscape has significantly evolved since then. In light of this, we pondered over what kind of multiplayer mode would be suitable for today’s climate.
The “Metal Gear” series’ approach to ‘stealth’ – specifically the ‘camouflage’ element in its narrative and the ‘survival’ theme throughout – presented a fresh challenge by not only emphasizing combat, but also incorporating elements of ‘hide-and-seek’ and ‘exploration’, thus creating a distinctive concept for ‘online battles within Metal Gear’.
I’m sorry for any inconvenience, but at the moment, we can’t provide detailed insights about the game. However, rest assured that we’re putting a lot of effort into developing Fox Hunt. We look forward to sharing more concrete details as the project progresses.
Konami has verified that the PlayStation 5 and PC editions of Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater will include the “Snake vs. Monkey” mini-game, featuring characters from Ape Escape. In contrast, the Xbox Series version will offer a “Snake vs. Bomberman” mini-game instead.
The game titled “Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater” will be available for purchase on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, and PC through Steam starting August 28.
