Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater Includes New Version of Iconic “Snake Eater” Theme

After what appears to be many long years of anticipation, the game Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater is now set for release on Xbox Series X/S, PS5, and PC. Not only do we see familiar voices with actors like David Hayter and Lori Alan reprising their roles, but there’s more! The talented Cynthia Harrell, who is recognized for the memorable “Snake Eater” theme, makes a return and performs a fresh rendition of the remake’s soundtrack.

In the reimagined introductory title sequence of the recent Metal Gear Solid Legacy installment, you might catch a snippet of it, although it’s arguably best recognized towards the end. Composed by Norihiko Hibino, this track was initially created as an alternative and never intended to serve as a theme song.

As a fan myself, I’d like to share an interesting tidbit about the music in the original Metal Gear Solid game: Instead of “Don’t Be Afraid” by Rika Muranaka, director Hideo Kojima chose “Snake Eater” after giving it a listen. This track, which has been likened to a James Bond film theme, has garnered widespread acclaim since the game was first released and continues to be highly regarded among fans.

On August 28th, Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater will be released, and you can now pre-order it globally. Here’s a link to its most recent trailer for your viewing pleasure.
