Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater Will Utilize PSSR on PS5 Pro, Deliver Better Frame Rates

As a longtime fan of the Metal Gear Solid series and someone who spent countless hours sneaking around jungles as Snake Eater, the news of a remaster for this classic game is nothing short of exhilarating! The promise of “more vivid” foliage and smoother gameplay thanks to the PS5 Pro’s Spectral Super Resolution has me practically salivating.

As a thrilled gamer, I’m excited to share that during their latest State of Play, Sony unveiled a fresh lineup of games taking full advantage of the PS5 Pro’s prowess. Among these eagerly anticipated titles is none other than “Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater,” a game that’s also being developed for Xbox Series X/S, PS5, and PC.

According to a recent post on the PlayStation Blog, Konami’s creative producer Yuji Korekago unveiled that the PlayStation’s Spectral Super Resolution (PSSR) technology will enhance the visual appeal of trees and foliage when navigating through jungles. Additionally, this technology aims to improve the overall frame rates, ensuring a more fluid gameplay experience.

The remake’s resolution and frame rate haven’t been definitively stated by Konami yet. Previous demo experiences hinted at a Quality mode running at 4K/30 FPS and a Performance Mode providing a dynamic 1080p resolution. However, it’s uncertain if these figures will be the final ones or if they’ll run at higher rates on the PS5 Pro. We’ll find out more about this later.

The PS5 Pro launches on November 7th worldwide for $699.99, with the Vertical Stand and disc drive costing extra. Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater doesn’t have a release date, but it will be playable at Tokyo Game Show 2024. Stay tuned for more details in the meantime.
